Quit taking the handles off ESEE knives

Well, I never claimed anywhere to be holier than thou or anyone else. I'm not. But taking handles off of the knives is not needed unless you are changing out handles. I have indeed stripped screws before but it wasn't because I was taking a screw out for no reason.

I stripped one of my screws because I had put black liners on my ESEE 3.

I'd gladly buy a kit if it were made available.

They don't use proprietary hardware. You can get both the screws and the connectors at most any knife maker supply store online.

The point is they can be cleaned (even blood) without removing them. The reason we make them removable is for people who want to do custom handles, not for people to just remove them every day and clean them with a microscope and tweezers.

Don't you know my safe isn't dust proof and my knives often get dust between the scale?

I looked at my light machete, and they look like rivets, not threaded fasteners. The inside of the fastener instead of being keyed for a bit is perfectly round.

First off... I havent stripped any screws....Yet.
But do think it might be viable to make them available for retail.

And wouldnt it be possible to get them so a normal flat can unscrew them. Like on the HEST. Just feel it makes more sence as theres plenty things in the veld that can then in emergancy be used to take the scales of where with the currant ones if you dont have a key your stuck.

Just a thought!

I consider myself a newbie. I'm just curious, why would you need to take the scales off in an emergancy????

Yes, we now round out the heads of the Lite Machete screws to keep them from being removed.

That's true, taking the handles off of an ESEE knife is about useless for emergency purposes...unless someone is just looking for something to keep them from being bored while sitting in the middle fo nowhere.

TTD and Jeff, thanks for clearing that up for me. I thought I was missing something.

How about more offerings in G10?

All this micarta is prompting people to clean their handles more often. Yes, you can clean them on the knife, but people like to tinker.

but.. but... what if I piss on my machete in an emergency... you know... well... I really can't think of a reason why I would do such a thing, but what if I do... and I NEEEEEED to remove the scales... because.... you know.... well... just because... what ever am I going to do?

It's actually MUCH better to clean them on the knife but some folks can't grasp that concept.
