QVC Accident Video

This isn't nearly in the same league as that idiot federal agent who shot himself with an "unloaded" Glock in front of a classroom. He'd just told his audience that he was one of the "few" agents qualified to use the weapon. (BTW, he's now suing the government because it had not kept wraps on the video and he was suffering extreme humiliation in restaurants and other publica places.) If anyone knows where that can be downloaded, it's a true gem. Although the guy was a jerk, if I were a police chief, I would never let my men carry Glocks. Every federal, state and private agencies and groups that have switched to Glocks have seen a dramatic rise in accidental discharges.

But back to the sword: this was, after all, a display piece. I'm sure the guy didn't have any reason to suspect the thing would snap like it did, though many of us would not have made his mistake. I really wish I had that SNL skit where "Julia Child" accidently cut herself, then passed out when blood began spurting all over the counter. "Oooooh," she said, "I cut the dickens out of myself!" Then the blood came.

I'm sure we've all probably cut ourselves doing something stupid. I have, several times. It does hurt!

Definetely didn't word it right. I should have said what you said. My fault.

I apologize if I gave off the impression that I was personally upset with you. That wasn't the case at all.

Oh yeah! The DEA Agent who shoots himself. Well, even though the guy is a fellow Fed... he's a moron. I've handled weapons since I was 8yrs old. I've been in Law Enforcement for 12+yrs. I've served as a Firearms Instructor on many ocassions. I'VE NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE! Guns are all about the safety of the handler, PERIOD. HE was careless. He clearly locked the slide to the rear, ejecting the round in the chamber but missed the 1st step of clearing the weapon, eject the magazine! So when he let the slide go (he pressed on the gun slide catch, a big no-no with Glocks, if he was such a "pro" he would've known this), he chambered a round. But, ok, maybe he was distracted. What the hell was his finger doing on the trigger?! UNLESS YOU ARE GOING TO SHOOT, KEEP THE FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER.

I've been known to be paranoid around weapons. Especially if someone's getting stupid with a gun near me. I've hit people over the head with the own guns for being jackasses. This DEA guy, IMHO, deserves the ridicule because he was careless, negligent and complacient. Any of these by themselves will get you killed much more so all three combined when dealing with guns.

Unbelievable. You actually just used a knife forum to tell people that you don't like Glocks. Glocks are not unsafe, people like you who are afraid of them are unsafe. The only safety that works is the one between your ears. Well, ok, the one between my ears.

no matter how many times I see that it always makes me laugh.....and Odell sounds like he is a bit drunk and slurry...

Cold Steel should include a blooper reel on their DVD'S. Wouldn't it be funny to see this happen in a CS video:D .
I know that chances are this would not happen as CS blades are not wall hangers and are functional cutting platforms but it sure would be funny.

What is even more scary is this guy represents a % of inept DEA agents, Just how many more are that cocky and stupid?

Ebaumsworld has both videos in question also.

I'd rather get accidentally shot with a .40 caliber Glock or hit in the gut with the broken end of a cheap wall-hanger, than visit that site.:thumbdn:

No, I do like Glocks. They're great personal weapons, but I don't think a gun with the safety on the trigger is a great idea -- it's like putting a brake on an accelerator. Safety is something that is paramount with both guns and knives, plus, it is a fact that accidental discharges have greatly increased in agencies and departments that have adopted this gun. (One cop killed a guy when he allegedly used the gun to tap on the front window.)

I also don't like folders that close on peoples' fingers or give the user a false sense of security by a system that's touted as providing essentially the same strength as a fixed knife. And as much as people don't like Cold Steel, I think the company goes all out in showing how strong their lockups are.

People are fallable; they make mistakes, especially cops who many times have to work long hours in all types of weather, hot and cold. So that would be factored in if I were a police chief or agency head.

I would love to see someone do a skit on a Cold Steel video. I'm sure they make sure the outtakes never see the light of day. On the other hand, CS did leave in a partial failure of one of their Pro-Lites. They did add, however, that the person using it would not have been in any danger of being cut.

I watched that clip with the guy and the sword about 20 times straight, and I can't remember the last time I've laughed so hard. Literally. I had to stand due to my ribs cramping up a few times. -Too bad for him, but I loved it.
That other guy, wow. What a fool. Should he of even had live ammo in a class room? I think I'd feel safer with 50 cent and Too Short. He should never be allowed to handle a gun again. Luckily he shot himself.
The sword was much much funnier, but the gun was just so stupid it's hard to see the humor. -Well...maybe a little.
