Occasionally I make these rough looking blades in all kinds of shapes. Basically RAW stands for Ready and willing which is what these blades are. 5160 steel with a great heat treat and a secure handle. Just ugly enough to be used :) Here is a fighter 11 7/8 overall with a 7 1/2in blade(tip to guard) Steel is 1/4in thick and the bevels are hollow ground. The cord wrapped handle is soaked in epoxy. Sheath is black kydex.and will come with a Tek Loc. Price is $130shipped in CONUS. I can accept Paypal or MO for payment. Also I wouldn't mind a little feed back on my concept. Thanks :)

Love the concept...

How much more to make one with a G10 handle??

Cord wraps only on the RAW stuff. I am looking to do bare bones knives in this line.

How durable are they??

Can the cord wraps be replaced??

Love the line--RAW--just want to know how durable the handles are>?

Love your work!!!!!!!!

Have one of your knives--and want a lot more!!!

The handles are extremely durable. The 2 Ton epoxy soak makes them permanant and resistant to most everything but intentional abuse.

I think it is a great idea sir. Like most folks here I have many knives. I have two of yours and a whole draw of Fred Perrins'
The thing I like about your concept " RAW" is they are users.
One of the reasons I love Perrin knives is that when you buy
them NEW they still look like they have been hit by a train. NOBODY has a safe Queen Perrin ! Perhaps the RAWS will
draw the same clientele.

Bill, I really like the concept. The only thing I would suggest be changed, keeping in mind that this is completely subjective opinion, is that I would want the upper guard removed, keeping the lower one.

That's about it, though!

Nice knife!

Andy

Thanks for all the input. Here's another I am working on. The cord was a burgandy/green but darkened too much from the epoxy to show in the pic. It's a cool seax style belt knife :) I ground the scale off this one. I am going to use this finish as standard for these. By the way all the RAW knives will be 1 of a kinds. I will not be offering any standard patterns as that gets too boring. Some I am sure will be similar but part of the concept is easy of manufacture and "coloring inside the lines" isn't fun everyday. I will be using this line to have a little fun with shapes and who knows maybe some of those designs will find their way into the regular line up :)

I think the concept is awesome. I'd like to see one with a flat or full convex grind. Maybe a big chopper style blade.

The concept looks good overall, the comment I have is the guard shape could be changed, my opinion it doesn't complement the rest of the knife.

Or if it sounds better this way, the weakest part of the knife design is the guard shape. Simple suggestion, don't round them, use an angle cut like what on the skull crusher on the back end.

I am in the process of ordering a knife just like the first one shown.Size is almost exact. But I asked my maker for Elk Crown handles. I have XXL hands and when I try to cut with paracord after a brief time it irritates my palms. Feels like it's cutting right into me,not enough meat to hold on to. I assume that with 1/4 inch thick stock you intend a lot of chopping to be done as well with this tool. That Paracord would have my tender palms bright red and in pain in no time flat.Need a leverage handle.
Give you a 10 on style and design but 5 on only making Jap wraps available. Big man needs B I G handle to wrap his hams around. My $0.02

Well the cord wrap I do is not as abrasive to the hand as some more traditional Japanese style wraps so no worries there. It is simple round cord without any twisting that forms the usual ridges found on swords. As to not Soaking the cord wrap, the steel underneath would rust on ya if the handle wasn't sealed. Remember this is 5160 not a stainless steel. If the handle wrap was removable, the sheath probably wouldn't fit whatever slabs were attached afterward.

Hi Bill,
Great looking knife. I've been in contact with a number of guys stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. They all tell me they want a cheap, durable, knife they can resharpen easily in the field, but one they won't have a heart attack over if they lose it. Looks to me like you hit the nail square on the head with this one. Check out AR-15 forums. Lots of military guys over there. Good Luck,
Scott

I have Bill's Truck chopper with a epoxy soaked cord wrap and it's awesome. His wrap is a lot softer than you would think. Thin profile let's you really control the blade, plus Bill's 5160 is top notch. If I hadn't picked up a HOGFSH and blew all my $$$ I would be all over this. Beautiful knife, amazing price. If this things hangs around for a bit I'll be back with the $$.

Just had a thought, can anyone say PROJECT?? How hard would it be to strip the wrap and hand rub this baby to 2k?? Nice cocobolo slabs and you have a really nice presenatation bowie.
