Just to get you up to date on his story:

I purchased a knife in Mar 2011, and it was apparently JUST before he claimed he would begin making knives from scratch. He used inferior steels and sold them as ATS34.

My knife was during his "lying" period, which I believe he still does lie and if not, he should still make good on past lies if he wants any credit in my opinion.

My knife was made from a blank, the steel he lied about, and he didn't grind it other than perhaps barely sharpening it, as it is VERY DULL.

Since he continues to sell "knives" and wants his "rep" clean, and claims he is a "man" now, I think he could work a deal with me to buy his knife back, and RESELL it with correct information attached to the description.

Some people in the above posted thread, think he should have been banned, and others think it is basically forgery, illegal. I agree to both statements. It also reflects poorly on other makers, which might be a good thing as we all need to seriously scrutinize who we are buying from.


So Ray, I've PM'd you 2 or 3 times in the past 3 days, and left you 2 profile messages. Now I am just going to keep this going so others avoid your low class act. Maybe you will work this out with a few of us that have been jipped.

Ball in your court, and we know what you'll do... lie. Try to prove me wrong.
 
I received an email from Bill when he saw that I had purchased one of Ray's hunters, a link was provided to me showing what blank he had used from Jantz. I filled a PP dispute right away but Ray beat them to the punch and refunded me right away. Hopefully he will refund you quickly and stop using this method of selling "custom" blades. He does do a nice job with the handles but him claiming different grades of steel used is wrong! Best of luck getting this resolved. Martin
 
Yeah well, he sucks and logs on almost daily but no response whatsoever. I am not sure what to do, as I won't display a lie nor sell it to anyone else. I'd like to hear his response.... "oh yeah, that knife, I lied about it, but it's in the past now so what am I supposed to do? I'm a new man now, and make all knives by hand. Sorry you got a lie from me. I can't do anything about it now. BECAUSE I AM A POS SNAKE LIAR STILL." Maybe something like that. A real business man. NOT.

Don't buy from R.Carpenter unless you don't mind how a product was made nor what the steel type is.

You bought the knife on 3-12-2011 and then on 3-26-2011 you find out or believe it is a fraud , lie knife .

It is now 7-17-2012 , 1 year 4 months later and you now are asking for justice . Why did you wait so long ? You should have asked for this 1 year 4 months ago IMHO .
 
I asked him about it back then, he said he made it from scratch. No blanks etc. So taking his word that the description of the knife was true, I bought it. He lied about knife materials to me and how it was made to me.

In that post, post number 44 Ray comes out and straight up says, yes I am scum and lied about knife materials and how knives were made. But now I am a better person.

Right. So yeah, timing not so good. Ray still visits this site and has ignored my PMs and visitor messages so I am going to keep his name out in the open a bit longer AGAIN. I'd like him to take the knife back and re-list it with factual information and prove himself a man/real knife maker.

So now I know, and I want more people to know. I thought I did my due diligence and was lied to and now I have a bad taste in my mouth in regards to "knife makers" and their willingness to steal from this site's users.

Oneill, you and R.Carpenter live about 20miles from each other, coincidence? Friends? Curious you spoke up again in this thread.

And on the time frame "thing", I'm surprised Ray never contacted those he "lied to/stole from", guess he is late to the I give a crap party. But he doesn't thats the point- give a crap. Making good, isn't just about "from this point on I'll do this", it's about making mends with all involved, no matter what time. But again, he isn't a stand up guy and won't do crap about it. And I hope he continues to fade into the past.

Unfortunately people like this tend to emerge as a "new maker" and keep on stealing. Because that's what he does, steal your money for lies. He's not making as a passion. He's making to take money. Just wanted to share again and keep this alive for a month or two AGAIN.
 
I will say one thing, sending people harrassing and insulting messages via Bladeforums is not acceptable. Whatever your beef is, you need to find a better way of handling things. The forums are viewable.by anyone and we want to keep most areas family friendly. The language used is a violation of the rules. Don't make a habit of this. Besides, when you drop to that level of name calling, your own credibility and "professionalism" goes down the drain. How can people take you seriously and believe in your case, when you turn around and act immature?

Edit: I've PM'd Ray and asked him to make an appearance in this thread. He is the only one that can address things and ignoring things like this doesn't make them go away.

Insulted a thief? I don't care. Infraction for that? I don't care. Unprofessional? I'm not in business selling knives. The politics of this forum sometimes are too amusing. It's like security guards... Get real, go "bust" the idiots that "troll/spam/blatantly steal/use gold memberships to sell/use multiple ids/etc". I'm just a "jay walker" in this arena.

I would recommend some chamomile tea right about now. Sit back in a comfortable chair and reevaluate your perspective on this. I have asked Ray to post in this thread and address your concerns. He thinks things are done and over, you don't. If it were me, I would want to have an explanation at the very least. He needs to know that this won't just go away if he ignores it.

Duro, but he's a changed man. Why bother make the old good. Yeah, well, as long as a few more people hear about this... Just don't know what to do with the knife. I don't care to show it, the handle work IS nice, but I really thought I was buying ATS34 ground by Ray, not Jantz lower grade steel. There is a difference.

Tea, yes, yummy.. 2008 pinot noir for night time though..

I try to learn about the makers I "support" and do so now more than ever. And that's what this comes down to, collectors WANTING to support an individual skilled maker. Some makers have a lifetime guarantee.. Some don't. Ray apparently does not. Quality is missing somewhere in his equation. I'd even work with him on refunding me or making it good, like a different knife no cash so he doesn't have to take a hit on this. How's that for being understanding.

edit: corrected comment on Jantz as the steel isn't ATS34 from Jantz, it's more than likely just random cheap stainless. As commented by others in a previous thread, 'nuff said.
