24 YEAR OLD SENIOR AIRMAN BENJAMIN D. WHITE DIED FOR HIS COUNTRY IN AFGHANISTAN WHEN A NATO HELICOPTER WAS SHOT DOWN BY TALIBAN INSURGENTS.
This fine young man was a native to my home town, and although i did not know him personally, i did know his father Tony. We used to play guitar together back in high school.
This is my first personal connection with the current war.
My father, uncles, grandfather and great uncles all served in the military.
I have the greatest respect and admiration for all who have served and are serving our great country!
White’s body will be flown into the Tri-Cities Regional Airport at approximately 9 a.m. Saturday from Dover, Del. His body will be returned to Erwin that day.
Local law enforcement is encouraging people to line the streets to honor this hero.

R.I.P. Airman White. May you rest in peace. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.

well, i just watched the news and i have to post about this.
a baptist church group from somewhere in kansas is going to travel all the way to tn. to protest at the memorial for our native son.
i know this is a free country, but to disrepect a veteran and his family is just going too far!
i hope these idiots know what they're stepping into.
a motorcade will be bringing him back into town tomorrow, escorted by members of law enforcement and the local members of rolling thunder.
my wife and i are going to line the route along with i'm sure hundreds of others from our small town.
people from this area are old school in their ways and beliefs, and these outsiders may bite off more than they can chew!

i'm not political, nor am i religious, and try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but there's no justification for the actions of this "christian" organization.
if they run into trouble during their protest, i say they get what they deserve!
it's been said that Airman White is the first casualty from our town since vietnam, and folks around here are very patriotic. matters may get out of hand, i don't know.
for the families sake, i hope it is a peaceful and respectful ceremony.
but as far as the protesters go, i think they should just go back to where they came from.
i hate to vent, but this kinda stuff just makes me very angry.

Members of that "church" are mostly Phelps children. These supposed protests are their business. They stir up animosity and then sue anyone who steps over the line in opposing them.

Line up a few bikers, have the police provide a permit for them at the opposite end of town, and they'll leave quietly. Do not fall into their trap: Do Not Feed The Trolls.

Religion and politics can not take away the fact that Airman White put his life on the line for every US citizen. May he rest in peace. Condolences to his family and friends.

I find it hard to understand the motivation of the group that would protest at his funeral and participate in the other activities the Phelps cult is responsible for. That is not a "church" just a mob of hate filled zealots. As always Esav has provided a wise answer to the actions of those scum.

My deepest respect to SENIOR AIRMAN BENJAMIN D. WHITE for what he gave up for our country and my sincerest condolences to his family for their loss.

R.I.P. Sir.

I know I'm up here in Canada, but our military is shoulder to shoulder with the US Soldiers over in A-Stan. I have several friends and family who are military and my deepest respect and admiration goes out to them along with my condolences for the family and friends of the fallen.

Here's a little tribute that was done for our fallen soldiers. Every fallen member is brought along the Highway of Heroes when they arrive back on Canadian Soil and our citizens come out enmasse to pay tribute. Hopefully Senior Airman White receives the same reception in his hometown, he deserves nothing less.

i, in no way meant to offend anyone who is a baptist by the above statement. i was raised in a baptist church, and learned the morals by which i live, in that church. my father was a deacon and sunday school teacher.
i apologize.

No need to apologize... I think most of us are familiar with this so called "baptist church" group and as a baptist myself, I despise them and there actions.

I'd like to add that there were three other young men who gave their lives along with S.A. White.
TECH SGT. MICHAEL P. FLORES, SAN ANTONIO, TX.
1ST LT. JOEL C. GENTZ, GRASS LAKE, MICH.
STAFF SGT. DAVID C. SMITH, EIGHT MILE, AL.
I would like to send my condolences to these families as well.
They all did a great service to our country and i appreciate their honorable service and sacrifice.

These men deserve the greatest possible respect for what they do and what it costs them and their families.

Two Australian soldiers were recently killed over there and their bodies have just returned home for burial. We fight alongside our allies for the same causes and ideals and, unfortunately, suffer the same consequences.

Fortunately, we do not have here the same groups of scumbags protesting at heroes funerals.

RIP to all those who have paid the price.

Sucks, doesn't it? I lost a good high school friend to the war, and he left behind a wife and kids. Really brings it home, when someone you care about kicks off. I've also heard that another fine young man, with whom I was acquainted, has given his life for our country. Heavy price :( I can only hope I'll come to deserve it. . .

Deepest Condolences

P.S. - Those Phelps bastards protested at Eddie's funeral, which led to a passing of a new law here in Missouri. No more. . .

Please listen to Esav. Living in DC and being a veteran myself, I've learned a bit about these sad people.

Eventually, the Supreme Court will deal with them.

You and I ... we should just turn our backs and and let their hate eat them up from the inside out.

I try to understand. I really do. But some things will never make sense.

One last comment.

This is what it means to be a soldier, sailor, airman, marine ... :o

When you sign up, this is what you may face.

They had a saying about this during WWI: "All gave some, some gave all."

Regardless of where you stand on the political spectrum, no matter what you may think about any particular conflict; show a little respect for the fallen. I guarantee that, when you're out there, you're not thinking about politics.
