Rest in peace Baldor you will be missed. You have given so much to many Knifemakers. I know I would not be where I am today without you. I hope your memory and legacy live on in the hearts of others that come after you.

Thank you Baldor - JT

yeah, well Ikea still sucks. Except for the cinnamon rolls, the cinnamon rolls aren't bad.
Haha!

But I believe the actual transaction took place years ago.

ABB completes acquisition of Baldor Electric Company
Zurich, Switzerland, January 27, 2011 – ABB Ltd (NYSE: ABB), the leading power and automation technology group today announced that it has completed its acquisition of Baldor Electric Company (NYSE: BEZ), a North American leader in industrial motors. The transaction, which was originally announced on November 30, 2010, was valued at $4.2 billion, including $1.1 billion of net debt.

Its about time ABB changed that name.
Despite Baldor being son of a couple respected & powerful Nordic Gods, He sure was a punkass spoiled Mommas boy.
Sadly nowdays living that way seems to suit alot of folks, But its a vile bargain for sure.
As much as we should despise Loki for his overall evil doings, I say he did the world a favour...

My understanding was the buyout happened years ago, and this is just a corporate name change.
Now mind you this next information came from their Instagram, but apparently products, sales, service, and the names on the equipment will be unchanged. I was informed I could still buy a baldor labeled motor from the same dealer I always have, and nothing will be changed.

Leeson appears to be owned by Regal Beloit, which is a US company with a YUGE manufacturing presence in India. At least it is not based in Japan. Otherwise, they might have to change the name to Reeson. :p
My motor purchases will most likely be Leeson brand in the future!:p

All autos motorcycles machines & electric motors are all made in and of parts & components made all around the world! My Toyota Truck is made in Texas!!

Yep. My brothers VW Jetta diesel wagon was built in Mexico and I think that my other brothers Volvo SUV was made in Belgium in the plant that used to make the little hatchback. If you have a Toyota Camry or Lexus SC350, it was probably made in Kentucky.

Doerr Electric was founded by the sons of Emil Doerr (who founded the company that became Baldor). Lee Doerr's sons founded Leeson in 1972, hence the name. Leeson expanded from Grafton WI to my home town, bought a number of other companies including Gear Systems, and then sold out to Regal Beloit in 2000. (I started working there shortly after) Renamed Regal Beloit Motor Technologies Group, it included Leeson, Lincoln, and Marathon motor brands. I would say the lions share of the 56 frame motors we knife makers use come from the plant in my town. I couldn't say were Leeson brand speed controllers or gearboxes are manufactured, but any Leeson brand motor 5hp and under is made in the US to the best of my knowledge.

But whether it's Baldor, Leeson, Lincoln, Marathon, Doerr, that all started with Emil Doer.
