My best friend, Holger Enge, aka Cockroachfarm, passed away yesterday afternoon of complications from Cushing's Syndrome.
His wife Maureen called me from Toronto just now with the news.
He had fallen ill just before the Blade Show and in spite of excellent care in Toronto, his heart just gave gave out.
He had just turned 61 last week.
Holger was a professional writer, and publicist. He had a successful career in radio for many years and was a joke writer for many Hollywood stars, including Don Rickles, Phylis Diller and many others.
He was a animal lover, especially dogs, and was a protector and savior of abused racing greyhounds.
Holger was a passionate collector of knives, watches and he loved cars.
Most of you never met him, but those who did know what a wonderful human being he was and how much he gave to his friends and family in all respects.
I am in shock right now - friends like Holger are very rare indeed- I am unable to express further how I feel.
This picture of Holger and my dog Cody was taken at my home just 12 months ago when he came to Montreal to celebrate my birthday.
Rest in peace, my best friend
