Lets all take a moment to remember one of the most talented and innovative guitarists that has ever lived and played - for today, (9/18) marks the anniversary of his death.
I for one am still very much moved every time I hear him play the guitar.

The Man is truely missed...
But the music lives forever!!!

One of the reasons I play a Strat!

somewhere along the line i saw jimi play 'hear my train a comin' on a twelve string. i was speechless.

No way dude, my amigo up in Frisco said he heard a rumor Jimi was gonna' play at the Filmore next month. He's gonna be bummed if I tell him about this. Peace man!

Jimi died September 18, 1970.You were only a day early. He was one of the greatest ever. :cool:I was wrong.I see you posted after midnight.Peace.

For the last few weeks I have been watching and playing along with the DVD of the Crossroads Festival. Eric Clapton, Santanna, Buddy Guy and many others - their playing is incredible. Possibly the best blues summit on disc of that kind.
And then I ordered the dvd of Hendrix at Albert's Hall

After all these decades, he can still schock. Jimi is still absolutely incomparable. The man was a genius.

Now listening to: hendrix - the wind cries mary

It's a real shame he died so young... but it also kinda makes sense, better to die with a bang than to just fizzle out. like lennon, he's always gonna be remembered as a great, whereas people like micheal jackson who would otherwise have been looked upon as legends have now ruined their image.

Here's to a great musician, RIP jimi hendrix

I have to find the cd, but I bought his BBC sessions album, and one of the songs on there was about him burning the candle at both ends writing songs. I believe it was an old blues cover, but it took the place of Voodoo Child and All Along the Watchtower as my favorite Hendrix songs. I prefer his blues covers over his own rock songs, but nonetheless, Hendrix was the best guitarist that ever lived.

Around here, there are two Saturday Night Live shows shown, back-to-back, on the NBC station. The first one is from the current season, and the second one is from "the vault." The historical show that was shown last night/this morning was from 1/19/1991, with Sting as the host and musical guest. One of the tunes that Sting and his band played was "Purple Haze."

Interesting coincidence...or it seems that there's a Jimi Hendrix fan that schedules the SNL shows, and knew the anniversary.

Jimi Hendrix will always be imitated...and he will always be tough to surpass.

He will always be missed in this house, as one if not the
best that ever played a guitar. RIP Jimi.

A lot of people listened to Jimmy Hendrix play, but most people couldn't hear Jimmy.

Jimi's style was that of jumping out of an airplane without a parachute. He was a paratrooper in the Army, so that would only make sense. All the young dudes in England took a page from his book...Clapton, Beck, Page, etc. Some may say he took a page from their book, but I think not.

Hi All-
Ted "Cat Scratch Fever" Nugent said:
"...Jimi took drugs and now he's dead, I went hunting and I'm still Ted..."
Too bad Jimi didn't realize actions have consequences.
