R.I.P Newt Martin

Talked to him at the Tulsa gun shows a couple of times a year for several years, nice guy. He'll be missed, made a lot of good knives. But he'll be remembered, Boker uses his hollow handle design on one of their knives, the Apparo...

One of the very few great Hollow Handle knife makers that was still recently active. And a great guy to deal with.
Not one of his assemblies was ever broken.
My condoleances to his family.

He was an amazingly talented guy. Met him when he was first starting out at an Austin knife show. We were looking at eachother's work and I was freaking out because he was asking me advice. This guy, even back then, had more talent naturally than I ever managed to develop as a maker. We ended up becoming friends and he went on to do some great things with knife making. He pioneered the strongest hollow handle to blade union aside from the Chris Reeves technique. He kept that one close to the vest for a long time. He will be missed.

Newt's Obituary

My MCE2 that he made for me in 2015. He was a great guy to deal with, and a true master craftsman.
