Roland's eldest daughter informed me that Roland passed away this morning. I am sure many of you will miss him, as will his family! He left his mark on the world of knife collecting!
So Long old Buddy!!

RIP Roland
I knew Roland was not well when I have not seen his posts on another forum I suspect something was wrong. We’ve had a few conversations and I enjoyed them. Roland the knife world will miss you RIP my friend.

I just found out as I came across this , I have been wondering and worrying.
I am so torn to read this as Roland did want it to end - at the near end, so for this I am relieved for Roland that his pain is over, yet I feel quite distraught with him dying too young.

I will miss my phone calls and emails that we had - really miss them. 😞

Roland thank you, I hope your journey continues with new worlds ahead of you, and I hope very much we cross paths in the future.

His last few years were tough. I think being on a knife forum and talking blades with other like-minded people brought him some joy and comfort during that time. I am sad that he has passed, but happy that he is no longer suffering.

Rest in Peace, bud.

I had limited interactions with him and purchased my 97OT from him. Regardless, over a half a dozen emails, he shared with me some Schrade history and what to look for when buying knives with great patience and kindness. Got the impression that he was genuinely a nice person to chat with.

Wish I had the chance for more interaction.

Rest in Peace, Roland.
