R.I.P. Roland Procter has Passed.

I just found out as I came across this , I have been wondering and worrying.
I am so torn to read this as Roland did want it to end - at the near end, so for this I am relieved for Roland that his pain is over, yet I feel quite distraught with him dying too young.

I will miss my phone calls and emails that we had - really miss them. 😞

Roland thank you, I hope your journey continues with new worlds ahead of you, and I hope very much we cross paths in the future.
Sorry I didn't message you or something, Duncan!! 🙄

Charlie, please don't be sorry as we knew he was going to leave us and reading that news either way was going to be harsh reality, I really feel for the long standing community here in BF when Roland was a member here and his good friends he knew.

I am sure this sad news will hit a lot of people.

I was surprised Roland went for so long for how sick he was, so each day I wondered just how he was going - or of he had left us yet.

I thought of Roland this morning having to give up his beloved wee dog Jasper to a friend who owns Jaspers very much loved wee dog playmate. The two dogs loved each other and played all the time together, Roland's friend owns a fair chunk of land where she lives with her now two dogs and other animals.
Roland often said that Jasper was such a Saviour for him and I couldn't imagine his sadness with saying goodbye to little Jasper, but he knew it was such a good thing for that wee Dog.

Thanks for passing this news along, Charlie. I knew he wasn’t doing well the last couple months and had missed his AAPK posts and email chats. I have three very special knives from him and am grateful to have been able to get to know him a bit. RIP RP

Thanks for posting this, Charlie. I have been away from internet service for most of August and September. Thought of Roland every day, wondering if he was still holding on. Rest in peace, Roland.
Welcome back, Dan!! Everyone misses Roland!!:confused:

They used pictures of some of his knives in an article about Sears knives in this month's Knife magazine. He sure made a lot of collectors happy when he liquidated his collection. He set a good example. I didn't know him personally, but enjoyed his posts. As Burns once said

An honest man here lies at rest,
As e’er God with His image blest:
The friend of man, the friend of truth;
The friend of age, and guide of youth:
Few hearts like his, with virtue warm’d,
Few heads with knowledge so inform’d:
If there’s another world, he lives in bliss;
If there is none, he made the best of this.
