R. J. Martin detent (PICS ADDED)

Let's put it this way, impossible to open with a wrist flick. When held properly if fires open with no issues. When not held exactly right it won't open. Attaining the proper hold is not difficult but to make it an unconscious effort to get from the pocket to fully deployed will take repititions. I can't get those repititions becuase I can't get it into my pocket with one hand because the leading edge of the clip is too small for my pants. Should be fine if I just bend out that first angle on the clip.

It's an RJ flipper, one of the best knives in the business in my opinion, not rocket science. And yes I've owned one so I know :D

When you say impossible to open with a wrist flick though, that's JUST using the wrist? None of the knives I've ever owned will do that. Unless I hold the knife tip up and snap it as hard as I can, but that's borderline abuse.

Hmm. Every Axis Lock, Frame Lock, Compression Lock, and Liner Lock I've ever owned (except for two), open with a wrist flick. I respectfully disagree that this is abuse by any stretch of the imagination. In an emergent situation getting your knife open may be the important part and the method of how you got it opened is irrelevant. If a knife can't tolerate being opened hard than I can't tolerate carrying that knife.

I should add that I do love the RJ.

I can open mine even if my finger is mashing the lockbar, so I'm not sure what people are talking about here.

I've often thought of getting a lefty frame lock cause I seem to be able to open and close them better with my left hand. Figured it must be easier to use my right hand on a lefty. Haven't had the guts to do it yet though.

Maybe it's technique but I can't wrist flick any knife open unless the pivot is too loose. Heck, Chris Reeve argues a normal flick-open is abusive let alone a wrist flick.
