Has anyone on here done business with R&M knives. Richard Staebler is not responding. I purchased a Jeff Hawkins Back Pocket folder and it has some issues. I tried to return the knife and Richard will not respond. Any help appreciated.

Wrong forum but I have bought knives from him with no problems. Do you have his email?
What are the issues might be interested

He will not return my messages. I purchased a Jeff Hawkins knife. It was not as I expected. Has a nic in the blade, and I should not have to sharpen a brand new custom knife.

The last knife I purchased from Rich had scratched up bolsters (not minor) and he said nothing about it. A new, $2300 knife. The scratches were not caused by Rich, it was an artist who had worked on the knife. However, instead of having the maker fix it before selling it, Rich sold it in that condition without disclosing the issue or posting a pic that showed the scratches. I sent it to the maker and the maker took care of it for me. I recommend you do the same. Doesn’t look like Rich plans to do anything for you. Sorry

That has been my experience on a Mike Zscherny as well. I will not be doing business with Rich again. Pretty sad he does not disclose and then have to go back to the maker to get issues taken care of.

I share your assessment of R&M customs at this time. I’ve decided to sever ties with Rich as well, despite buying a lot of expensive knives from him in the past.

I’ve had good luck purchasing from him but did not have any after-sale issues that required attention. I believe email is your best bet for communication. If you can’t get a response in a reasonable amount of time you may consider seeking a resolution through your payment provider.
