R.W. Loveless - I'm still shaking

I bow at your feet.

I've actually spent an hour staring at a high-def picture of one of the maker's knives. Never had the joy of holding one.

You can learn a lot about knives, aesthetics, and even yourself through such quiet contemplations. It astounds me -- the deep knowledge of beauty and form revealed by some artists. Ah, scientists are NOT the best communicators. This sounds mushy and soft-headed...it's the best I can do.

I may not be able to produce such beauty. I'm learning to appreciate it.

Congrats Win - that's definitely not your everyday delivery package. My guess is you're be grinning for quite a while yet.

OldPhysics, I understand completely! Yep, Win. The top grind was carried back too far, and with a simple mistake, a wonderful knife was born! Some mistakes really work out for the best. Steve, THEY WENT UP! Mike

Nice score!

(OK, most of the expected comments have been made. As a collector with more than several "safe queens", I would now like to hear some comments from the "I use EVERY knife I own, dammit!" crowd. What would you use these two for? TIA. )

Great pieces Win,thanks for sharing.Mike is right, they have gone up substantially, those numbers are quite low, especially on the mini,an extremely rare Bird.

Thanks for sharing with us. Absolutely gorgeous. I'm with Leatherbird on this one--green micarta ROCKS! Best Regards--Jim SEMPER FI

Win,

I wish you had never moved!

No one? :( I thought there would be at least one post with something like ..."Dang right I'd use those two knives to pry apart the bricks in that old fireplace out back. Heck, boy, all knives were meant to be USED, dammit!"

No one? ;)

Congrats on a wonderful pair! I really dig the green canvas - very rugged yet classic look to me. Enjoy.

Gorgeous knives going to a wonderful guy - whats better than that!
Congrats Win.

BTW, I understand that the table price on those is between $5-6000, and the open market is a good $3000 higher...

ouch!!!! very nice, my man:thumbup: But I am struck by the irony of looking at and talking in whispered, reverant tones about knives that were CLEARLY designed as users, and in the case of these two, HARD users for the average soldier......to wit, their bulletproof construction using tough stainless steel, micarta handles, mondo stainless hardware and handle bolts, etc.,.....being too priceless to use. I have two Morans. One is an Airman from the 60's which was USED like a mofo!!!! The other is the Reno '05 knife, whcih I believe Bill used a bit.....but nobody else ever will....lol. A similar quandry. I guess it is up to newbies like me to make slightly ugly hard use knives......that is until I get famous....MUAH, HA, HA, HA!!!!!! :p Congrats on what is nowadays a "once in a lifetime" aquisition......I hate you!!!!!:D

Your so ritht jdm61. That is Why Bob Loveless and Jim Merritt have worked so hard with me to bring out the Loveless Connection Knives. http://www.lovettknives.com/ this is a pic of the Combat Chute, as authorized by Bob.

Great last pic, Mike. Thanks for sharing. I'd been wondering how the 2 profiles differed, now I know. I like the Wilderness best.

Very nice, Mike....ummmm...what do you get for one of those?:D
