I have a copy of the Blade's Guide 5th that I'd like to giveaway to someone who will appreciate it. Unfortunately it is the 5th, not the 4th which was the last edition written by BRL. I have previously given away two copies of the 4th edition back when they were selling for a couple hundred each but I have no more to give away. BRL has said that his original text is unchanged in the 5th so it should still be a good source of history. It is the pricing and value system that was messed up in this edition. Prices aren't so relevant since they change with time (closed auctions are a better indication of value) but the relative value system was nice, and sadly missing from this edition. But if we refused to use anything other than the absolute best source, then nobody would use the internet! Haha! This copy of the 5th would be a good source of information for someone interested in traditional knife history. Also, there's a photo of a cool barlow on the cover of the book. :)

I would appreciate it!
I like to find old knives at flea markets and then research, trying to learn about the maker & the age of the knife, etc.

Well, I don't think I should be in, because I have the 7th edition, and there probably isn't a huge difference...maybe?

Jake, you would probably know as well as anyone. If the 5th is way better than the 7th, then I guess I would like to be in please!

I'm in! Can't go wrong trying to gain some more knowledge.

Thanks for the opportunity!

What a great giveaway Jake, it's nice to spread the knowledge :) Not an entry from me, but good luck to everyone, and thanks to your good self

One of the more appealing facets of enjoying traditional knives is the history behind each pattern and I generally learn something new each day I spend perusing this forum (which tends to be most days). As is the case with knives, I generally am hard pressed to pass up the opportunity to add a quality book to my library. I would be honored to enter your giveaway, thank you very much for your generous offering and the spirit in which it is being given.

Thank you for the interest, guys ! I may be incorrect about the edition. Someone told me this is the 6th edition! I have trouble keeping track--Haha!

I've actually never compared the editions myself. You're probably okay with the 7th but you're a welcome participant either way.

Jake, first, thanks for the generous GAW, second, I would much rather someone that had NO editions of this book, have yours.

I know I refer to my 7th ed. all the time. Good Luck to all!

I'll be in if I may! I'd love to own and learn from the book. And if I ever get tired of it I'll be sure to give it to another interested collector! Thank you!

im in ,i have found a standad with tortouis covers,it looks like a 38 pattern, single clip at one end and two smaller blades at the other, the thing that bothers me about it, is the main blade has germany down the side of the main and it is stamped standard on the tangon the same blade its in really great shape. thanks

I'm in Jake, thanks, I feel like the last knife book I picked up was 15-20 years ago and it was a Knives Illustrated Knives of 2001 0r 2004, I forget which.

Thanks for the generous giveaway and good luck to everyone.
