... BRL has said that his original text is unchanged in the 5th so it should still be a good source of history. It is the pricing and value system that was messed up in this edition. Prices aren't so relevant since they change with time (closed auctions are a better indication of value) but the relative value system was nice, and sadly missing from this edition. ...

That WAS easy!

As long as you brought up the issue of closed auctions, one thing has always puzzled me about the Exchange for traditionals. Why do the sellers so often eliminate the price info once the the knife is sold? I realize that it's not really an auction, but I thought I'd be able to research the "going rate" for certain knives on the Exchange. But most of the data just disappears.
