I don't know why really, but lately I've evolved away from intricate handmade/custom EDC - Hunter fixed blades & into medium to large fixed of the ba-dass variety. I stumbled upon the P1 Combat by Kizlyar yesterday...I didn't even know there was a version w brownish micarta scales - it's 13"OAL w an 8" evil blade, & appears to be relatively light at 11.887oz & balanced/fast in hand. The knife, due to its popularity, has been produced in several different variants...mine has Russian U-8 steel & their micarta, which I think looks great. And it comes with a nice leather sheath that hangs low, which is exactly what I would have had made for it if it came w Kydex or nylon like just about any other similar knife would have. I got mine for $160 on a great Euro camping supply website, but I see them going for about 70% - 100% more everywhere else.

I just wanted to share my excitement & see if any of you guys have any opinions/experiences to share on this bad boy. And yes, I know, this is labeled a "combat" knife, & I know that most real troops would find this an offensively inefficient tool to carry in their duties....I bought this knife for fake combat - for grown up pretending & tough-talk of taking out bears & mountain lions with it when I'm hiking with my lovely Wife & kids - I know this isn't practical fellas, but damnit, isn't it well made, well designed, & just cool?!

These pics are not the exact knife I bought, but my knife & sheath look like this:

I just picked up a Kizlyar Phoenix yesterday same knife, but a poly handle with rubber coating. Im having mine sent directly to Charlie Mike for a CM lined kydex sheath.

Edit: Also I have seen that depending on the year/time it may be made of varies steel's. The owner i bought mine from say's that it is D2.
