Radical idea.... Becker Folder ?

Get a phat bob folder by kabar. It's about as close as you will get. And no waiting. :D

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeazzzzzzzzzzze

The point is not to get the BEST folder. It's a modding exercise, so if it doesn't start with a standard Becker it doesn't count.

Can you imagine if someone took a BK-2 blank and turned it into a folder? What a monster that would be. It could be done, I think, although the knife would end up being way too heavy to carry in a pocket. You'd have to stuff something like that in a sheath. Hey, Cold Steel is making those huge pocket swords, so why not a huge Becker folder?

The OP was asking if BKT would ever make a folder. Currently, the answer is NO. I was offering an affordable an available solution from the same manufacturer.

A BK11 folder would be sweet. Yes. Of course. But it won't happen anytime soon.

Interesting that I found this, because this past weekend, I learned that an experienced Scouter (or experinced youth Venturer, take your pick) had used his lock back knife for batoning....... he all but destroyed the closing retention on his clip point lock back jack knife..... really nice knife, old Pakistani high carbon steel.... it's point is above the handle when closed all the way....

Anyhow, if BK&T makes a folder, I want it to be able to safely baton, without damaging the knife or it's mechanisms. With a preferably longer than taller blade, something like 11/14 blade, but not as tall and about an inch longer.

I would bust a stick apart between two rocks before I batoned a folder I cared about! Im not a huge fan of batoning with knives anyways, much less with a folder!

I was told by helpful Forum members that the correct way to baton a folder if u Must baton a folder, is to open the lock, allow the handle to lie perpendicular to the wood being batoned, so the handle is at right angle to the blade, that way u dont break the mechanism.

If u notice, my folder is in proper batoning position, the handle is Definitely at right angle with the blade AND perpendicular to the wood. :)
