Not a bad looking machine with all that versatility for 2149.00 with a 2 year warranty.

ya but i think it has only a 2x42 belt and is 1hp. i think ill choose the kmg...thanks

I have one. I subsequently bought a KMG. Want to buy my Radius Master?:D I'm serious and it won't cost ya $2000.

The guy that designed and made the radius master booked a table at the Australian Knifemakers Guild show just after he started full time manufacture of the unit. He came around and asked a few makers to give him their opinions and we did.

We all basically said the same thing, great machine with some really cool features, flat grinding not a problem but hopeless for hollow grinding. OK for grinding to the right but the motor sticks out too far when grinding to the left. At first he was rather pissed off that we had canned his machine but later accepted our suggestion that a larger diameter wheel would solve the problem. As far as I know he has never made a model with the larger contact wheel.

I used the machine at a knifemaking demo I attended in Feb. this year and I still think the machine is excellent in all areas but hollow grinding. I reshaped several handles and guards on finished knives for some newbie makers and felt comfortable straight away. Its a good well made machine and worth the money if you don't do a lot of hollow grinding.

The guy should've used 2" x 72" belts, not 2" x 48". You'll use up a lot of belts quickly.

(2" x 48" belts are more common in Australia, farriers use them in that size out there).

Plus, when using the 8" wheel, the body of the motor gets in your way.

For the price you're better off with a KMG or Bader III.

(If you want to be real cheap: a Grizzly and an oscillating spindle sander will work very well for the bucks).
