People have been asking me for another run of these for a while now so I did a batch and they're over on the "For Sale Knife making and supplies" sub forum. Like last time there are radius platens, flat platens and water cooled platen chillers. I didn't get a chance to do the accurate C plates yet but we're setting them up now so me a few weeks and I'll do another sale for them.

Anyways, you asked for them, I made them.

in the kitchen knife grind i liek the 48 inch and i use it for single bevels as well and westeren kitchen knives. you can hollow out a flat grind to about 1.5 inch tall with vertical use of the 48 incher for a wider grind you have to use the platen at an angle (farther flatting the hollow grind our )
anyone that wonders about how durable nates platens are i was in on the first batch and i use the hell out of mine it has a few streaks in the face (does not mess with grind) and no flat spotting that i can see

I should buy all 3 but I'm not working right now so I don't want to dip too deep into my savings. What about s grinds? Right now I have the 36" and the 72" will I get a lot more use out of the 48"?

have to ask your self if the 36 or 72 limits you. always ask what is the limiter when loki gat new tooling

I'm sorry folks! Nathan forgot to tell me these went up for sale yesterday. I am starting to make contact now. Thank you for your patience!

No, but looking at it, that might be a bolt on operation. You might have to drill another arm hole based on the bolt spacing.
You'd also have to know that the tool arm offset is going to keep your platen in line.

Sounds like a certain someone has enough demand for a TW90 run next ;) i know id take pretty much one of everything if a certain someone did :)

For those of you wondering what kind of silly tricks you can do with one of the radius platens, how about most of a blade? This one had the edge profiled and the the ricasso squared up on one of Nate's flat platens and all of the rest, including the clip, swedges, bevels and tuning up the curved spine, was done with a 36 incher. The little Moran style aviator blade is forged CFV and all of the grinding was done free hand with no file guides or jigs. The ricasso will be trimmed down for a 6 inch overall blade length. It is my first attempt at a brute de forge knife of sorts. It was rough ground without the chiller using an 80 grit 3M Cubitron II 984F ceramic belt. The blade had been forged down to like 85-90% so it took like 10 minutes plus the time to finalize the profile. IMG_0722.jpg

Sure wish there would be a run for the TW90.

I did once. I didn't make very many and it still took a long time for them to sell. Hell, I still have TW90 chillers left over from several years ago that I made extra thinking there would be future platen sales. I think I probably lost money on that project.

I think the TW90 is a great grinder, I wish I had them, but I standardized on KMG a long time ago and half the reason I do these sales is because there's grinding gear we need in the shop and I make extras for the sales, so it tends to be KMG.
