radius platen sale

Sure wish there would be a run for the TW90.

Very easy to adapt these to a TW-90 if one is motivated. Many of us running flat and radius platens from Nathan on other grinders. In my case, a couple of Wilmont TAG-101s. I'd personally rather Nathan stick with one format, and supply these more often, than trying to appease every grinder owner out there, that should be more than capable of tapping a couple of holes in the C-plate or buying one from Beaumont and switching tooling arms out, if they're capable of utilizing these platens.

What is a C plate?

It comes after the B plate but before the D plate.

..sorry..

The C plate is the flat platen attachment plate your wheels and platen are attached to that bolts onto the arm. I mentioned it because someone mentioned it as a way to adapt KMG geometry gear to a TW90 grinder. I'm making a run because the aluminum plate that Rob uses isn't flat and the holes aren't taped straight so the wheels aren't perpendicular or parallel to anything which can cause tracking problems. If you put a straight edge across your C plate (from top to bottom) you'll see if yours is wonky or not. If your belt wobbles and doesn't track the same in forward as reverse a poorly made C plate can be a contributing factor. So I'm making a batch that's made right for folks whose C plate is causing them a problem, or just want an extra. I happen to need one. It will also accommodate an extra wheel adapter, if a person should need such a thing. I do.

Any chance we can see what design you settled on for the C-plate? Or are you just going to duplicate the KMG pattern?

Anyone have suggestions for what Nathan recommends "swivel push-to-connect fittings" - is this just a air compressor fitting or rather the kind of fitting you would find on a water filtration system where you push in and pull out to lock it in place? Links would be helpful, can't wait to get this up and running.

Interesting to see what you are doing for the C plate Nathan. The one I made fits your platen size perfectly, in fact was designed around it. :)
I have a little tracking problem, I think due to the wheel bolts not being perfectly square.

I agree Javand, it should be an industry standard, and the C plate or frame made to fit the platen.

Check the plumbing section of the hardware store, they're "push lock" small diameter hose fittings, usually with the brass water hard line fittings. Or check for "push connect water fittings on google" The plastic ones are fine for this application.

These are the lowest profile ones I can find and what I'm using for my chiller. They're hex on the ID for an allen wrench.

I absolutely love McMaster lol... Will be placing that order asap! Nice thing is that if they don't work I can return and am just out a few bucks shipping so I'll let you know.

Thanks so much guys!

** edit: found what I need, Push-to-Connect Tube Fittings, for 3/8" tube
Mcmaster part # 7880T152 along with some 3/8" OD tubing, Mcmaster part # 50375K47 and I should be all set!

Yeah i was hoping he would be making another run if em. Just scored a 3/4hp marathon from ebay yesterday. Wishful thinking about the timing of him making disc grinder also

Will you be starting a new thread for the C-plates in the Knifemakers Market?

Yes we'll do a sale soon, they're still in process.

These are a direct swap of the original KMG platen but are flatter and made in a way to keep the wheels parallel to each other and perpendicular to the platen which can reduce tracking problems. I added some threaded holes for fixturing so I could face one side in the same setup that it was threaded. I'm using these holes to add an optional third wheel for a process we do here, it's not a primary function of the design but it might be something some people find useful.
