I went to Virginia last September and acquired a box of about 40# of spikes and other railroad metal things. They're rusty but in good shape, I'm just curious if anyone would be interested in some cheap metal. I think i have at least 25 spikes and other things. I'd use them myself, but I have recently moved to Germany for about a year for college and all, so I have no real use of them. They're still at my house in the US so I'll have my mom send them out.
Here's a pic, just tell me if you're interested in any of it.

Thanks alot J. I'll say $15 for the lot of the spring clips. I'll check shipping too. Just have to get a hold of my mom (6hr time difference from home).

So far the only thing i've been able to find out is that if the spike has HC on it, it means High Carbon .40% or something like that

Current rail road regs require rail steel to be 1084. The track clips (J clips) are 1055. They are the right size to do a sword and would make a better one than 1084.

BTW, I contacted Union Pacific for this info sometime back. My son works for UP and I wanted to know if the "junk" he was bringing me was any good, as well as how to heat treat it.
