Railroad spike and Horse shoe knives

Top one must be heavy. The pommel appears to be the original head of the spike, which gives a big indication of the size to anyone familiar with railroad spikes.

The top one appears to have been made in France.
One person whose work with RR spike knives I always admired goes by the name of Butches Forge. Butch has a store here:

I was at a gun show this weekend and met a bladesmith that makes these. His horseshoe was straighter and the handle was split, then braided back together, which was really unique looking. Both included leather sheaths. I didn't ask the price, but his regular knives were very well priced. His name is Frank Gonzales and his website is knivesbyhand.com.
Not to get too far off topic, but I must have spent 20 minutes at this guy's booth. He imports handmade Gurkhas from Nepal and learned from them how to taper the full tang of his knives in such a way that the every finger wraps around the handle equally. It also saves weight, but didn't look like it would effect the sturdiness at all. With other knife makers putting so much effort into skeletonizing a tang, I'm surprised no one thought to do something as simple and as effective as this.
