  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Rainy Day in the Woods, New gear, Pics just cause!

Looks like fun, thanks for sharing. I grew up on the coast, I always keep rain gear in the truck.

That weak fire was better than the fire I didn't enjoy today. I had to work, no fire. Always jealous of other peoples' times out.

wow, you are one tough cookie camping in the rain! really nice pics too...i like the rain so long as my shelter is already set up - it keeps the mosquitoes away...and other hikers too!

Lucky, I don't have any such luck as being able to walk outside and go cook lunch... When it rains here, well, that's about it, it rains, heavily, and horizontally..... But that's Florida for ya. Looks like you had fun, and your posts always have the best pictures, especially if they include more than one Becker at a time, or a combination of Beckers and food, or, well you know what you've posted, and you know how to take really good photographs.

Very cool, Cap'n! A lot of people around here don't understand the need to just get out, but it's always a good time.

Thar sheath looks right at home cap. Awesome post. I would love to get out and solo hike and cook and camp. Really I've been dreaming of just that alot lately.

The lady is a bonafide photographer, if I recall correctly. Got some real skills at it too. Also has had some interesting subject material.

I'm not a photographer, just love taking pics for fun. and if you put meat or beckers in any photo, they're gonna be good :P

Raingear is essential. I keep it on my bike at all times as well, I need to get a back up set for the jeep.

Looks like a good time despite the rain.

Interesting camo pattern on that umbrella. :D

Widerstand really got me thinking about umbrellas, it's the only one I have, I intend on getting a different one for the woods :P I have to say, it was way handy.

Cool outing. It can be a pain to keep a fire going around here when it's wet. I've had pretty good luck with the base and brace method demonstrated below by our own River-8. Be sure to click on the other links at the bottom of the page.

Pitchwood is a gift from God end of story.

Just a short solo hike is good for the soul. everything is quiet, you can hear the birds fly, and the fire pop and sizzle, it's incredibly refreshing. Longer periods in the woods I like a buddy though, but it's hard to drum up someone to go on my tues/wed weekends.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys!

I have free weekdays, being that I'm home schooled my schedule is more flexible than people I know that are retired with nothing they HAVE to do most of the time. If you need a buddy, I'll hit you up when I finally get out west, I'm tired of flat land and sand......

hmm think i might have to try a 15 out. wonder how it does on fish? takeing a trip to Alaska later this year and am thinking the 15 might be a fun blade to take:D:thumbup:
