Raise hands if you hate coating on a blade

I don't exactly hate coatings, but I'm really not a fan of them for sure. I very much prefer non-coated blades.

Of those I have experience with, which isn't many, the only one I have any respect for is the coating on my RAT RC-4. It seems pretty tough and is holding up well. Unfortunately the coated is one of the reasons the RAT isn't a favorite of mine.

Coatings have their place I suppose, covert military op's, or to protect non-stainless blades from corrosion. But I'll take a nice patina, and a bit of oil on a blade, over a coating any day of the week.

Absolutely I agree. Wish carbon steel never rusts. But, there should be a coating that reflects the knife's quality and beauty without it's disadvantage. Like the new ZT 09 with a stone wash. Blade don't reflect that much, but still looks like real satin blade without reflection.:)

I do not care much for coated blades. I do not own any foldes with coated blades, and I have stripped the coatings off several of my fixed blades.

I guess I don't mind it much if it is just some beater knife that I use hard and do not mind it looking all rough and beat up the way they do when the coating wears off in spots and patches. -Makes it look kinda tough I suppose.
