Rajah I v. II

The softer ergo's and slightly thicker handle of the II make it more comfortable for the light camp chores and the yard work people want to do with it. The Rajah I's aluminum frame is slimmer which makes it print less, but the frames ergo's aren't as radiused. The build quality on it isn't up to snuff with the Espada series, and I think that's the niche the RajahI was supposed to fit into. Hold a large espada next to the Rajah I and you'll see why they dropped it. Wish I had a better photo comparing the ergo's...

I'd have rather have had an X-L Espada instead of my closeout Rajah 1 but they're too rich for my blood for a "tacticalol knife" - they are super sick blades! :D

^That's why I said Large, because if you really shop you can find it $160ish. It's 5 1/2" blade makes it very comparable to a Rajah I except it weighs 9.8oz. I don't have a photo comparing them, but...

The X2 is extremely close to the dimesions of the L. It's a big folder, just pictured next to the XL like it often is makes it seem smaller. I carry the Rajah II alot, because the reverse grip wave opening is so lightning quick. I don't mind the wieght so much, but it is hard to justify carrying it over a Large that virtually disappears into a hip pocket. How often have you needed a folder to own medium/heavy cutting utility... better grab it just in case :D

You've found a post by a guy with 6 posts on CS forum - 3 of them about a thumb print and someone about a bic lighter mark?

I gave you roughly 79,000 pages in 2 GG queries w/o a mention of bolster scuffing or scratching?

My Rajah 1 arrived with some light bubble marks under the plastic pull-offs on the front bolsters. All I did was pull out the Brasso and polish the aluminum for a bit and they came right out.

I think you're making much ado about nothing dude. Don't you have a paper route or chores to do?

. . . Raises hand to request a slightly more advanced debate opponent . . .

The OP asked about reasons why CS "bailed out" of the nicer model (Rajah 1).

In fact, here's a direct question from him, " . . . Or is it that the polymer frame is more durable and approprate for field use?"

Does anyone believe a Rajah 2's synthetic body would have been affected (like the Rajah 1 was) by a lighter in one's pocket?

It seems like offering the OP a small part of the puzzle (that he actually asked about) has been simply too much for some here to assimilate.

TheBleedingEdge, I don't see anybody complaining about anything, I do see some trying to give an answer or two despite
all of the unfocused matter being thrown out by czlv.

I've been away from here for some years and it's good to be back. Where I was made me far less tolerant of suffering fools.
At the very least, let's read and understand what's actually written down before responding.

czlv - it's been a challenging adjustment recently and that paper route actually sounds tempting.

Cheers

I don't know what would cause anyone to have doubts about the strength and integrity of the Rajah. I feel perfectly at ease in chopping bark or batoning wood, prying (if needed), using for self defense -- and it's a rugged knife. I don't know of any failures with its locking mechanism and I'd rather carry it on my light and fast walking trails here in the East where strapping on a machete is apt to scare our very sesitive tree-huggers, who so enjoy skipping through the trails singing, "You are my sunshine!" Seeing handguns and machetes strapped on anyone without a federal Park Service uniform make them feel limp and afraid. So having a very versatile, quick to employ CS Rajah is a much better way for me to go.

We've found something we can agree on. If you read and understand, use your "back" button - it was your smart a**ed post that initiated our discussion.

I was thinking about this beast here: 16 3/4"

I disagree

You mistook words concerning the Rajah 1 FINISH as it being directed at the Rajah 1 FRAME integrity.

You were then asked to fully understand something before you comment on it.

I know, but I have to try and convince you to carry something smaller :D You've seen the R-I to XL comparison. You've had the R-I in tow. The XL is as large as a 12" bowie machete, except the blade is thicker and that knife is lighter. It's +2oz to the rajah and just over an additional inch closed. It fits in my hip pocket. I cursed that AUS8A blade for the price, until I needed to sharpen it...

The Large is very nice, but dispite a very superiour build quality I have a Rajah. I don't mind the weight. The Rajah is a user blade, and the Espada series are mostly gentlemen's folders.

I don't know any gentlemen big enough to be carrying the 16 3/4" XL Espada!
