Just recently placed an order for a 4" Bowie style Madd Maxx with the ano handle. I'd like to hear how you like yours if you own one. How's the lock? It looks rock solid. The flippers are just too cool. Are they easy to use to get the blade out? And if you've got any pictures by all means POST THEM PLEASE!

I own one of the 5.5 inch models and it is a great knife. The lock is solid, the blade came sharper than any other that I own and the flippers get the knife open faster than any other system that I have tried. They are also very easy to use.

Darrel makes wonderful knives and IMHO, I think you made an excellent choice.

Jeff - I have a 4" Madd Maxx with an ano handle and spearpoint D2M blade. I love it, it'sa great EDC. Turns out I like the 4" better than the 5.5" one, since it is easier to carry especially in slacks. The flippers are easy to manipulate to get the blade out in a hury. You can either flick the blade out with the bottom flipper, or thumb the blade out with the top flipper. LEt us know what you think of the knife after you get it. Congrats on the purchase!

That's right...you want pictures

The MM is just too cool. I love the construction and action of my 5.5 inch dagger. It opens smooth as glass and locks up tight. Darrel anodized mine a nice purply blue and did some gold nugget work on the hilt. You can see pics of it on his site. That reminds me, I need to get it out and play with it!

Jeff,
You're going to love it! I have one of Darrel's first large Maxes and it is my FAVORITE knife of all in my collection.

Years ago when I was into Chris Reeve Sebenzas, I called the large, small and Umfaan "The Holy Trinity" and owned them all. Now, I no longer own any Sebenzas and my new "Holy Trinity" that I'm working on is the small, large and giant Gibbs model Mad Maxes.

Jeff,
You will be astounded at how nice they are - I have a Mad Maxx dagger in D-2M & baby brother Min dagger in Talonite - looks like NCBLADES's in Dexter's thread except in Talonite. They are built like the proverbial tank - rock solid - incredible level of fit & finish - smooth as silk opening & closing & they feel light & very quick in the hand. 4" is about as good as it gets for EDC - flippers are easy to learn & use - not to worry mate! Pictures will be coming soon.

Have a nice day!
Bill

Thanks a bunch for all the replies guys! I neglected to mention that this is my first custom

. It was hard spending such a big chunk of cash on ONE knife. But, hearing your positive comments has made me sure of my decision. And the best part is that delivery will be only a few weeks. I'll post some pics when I get it.

Michael,
Very nice - got to see them at Blade - good meeting you there(I was that "other person" sitting at Darrel's table). One question though, "ARE THEY TALONITE?"

Have a nice day!
