Ralph Turnbull Spyderco collaboration (pics)

Very sexy design. I like how it looks when closed. Very zen.

I think the whole magnet slipjoint thing is cool. But for me, I would prefer a lock.

I had the oppurtunity to play with one of these, and it is very neat!
I don't know if I would get one though, I prefer a locking knife.

Would be interesting to see a locking mechanism made with the rare-earth, anything is possible.

Brushed carbon fiber, not peel ply.

Same clip as UKPK.

:D Oh Joy :D

Will the force to close it be similar to the UKPK too? Is there a half-closed stop to give me a fraction of a second to protect my digits? Does the magnet hold it closed too?

Is that the one you showed off at the last NY show you attended? Beautiful blade shape
Is this thing safe to use while wearing mechanical watches?

Looks amazing. I definitely want one. Are there any pictures of the spine of the blade or handle? Is it an open-backed design?

Any hint on the MSRP?

How close to your wallet before it ruins your ATM/credit cards?

Its an RE magnet which means its probably between 1x - 2x the power of your average fridge magnet. There is a big swing in measured gauss numbers of fridge magnets but they are usually cheap rare earth magnets.

So if a fridge magnet wont hurt it, this knife shouldnt either. Unless sal has some other numbers he can post on the strength of the magnet that point the other way, I wouldnt stress about it.

Thanks LHD-
I am but a simple caveman- all of your technology confuses & frightens me... ;)

Now I get to ask the obvious annoying question. ;) When do we expect these to ship? :D

I have been carrying one for about 3 months. All in all very fine. I normally like a strong lockup and this knife's main weakness is that like any slipjoint it doesn't have one. But it opens beautifully, stays open every time I have used it and feels great in the hand. Fundamentally a very sound knife.

In the pocket the magnets do occassionally click on to other crap. But my Sebenza catches coins and refuses to let them go easily. I have taken to leaving this in a pocket by itself or with the clip.

I particularly like how it holds an edge and how easily it is sharpened. Great blade geometry and fit and finish were amazing for a production knife.

gotta agree 110% fracmeister.....

I think there would be a market in the UK for a knife with a very strong magnet that works like a lock but UK legal. It could even be assisted opening if the magnet helps pull the blade open.

I feel bad for the brit and want to help. No one has done more than Sal with the UK PK though.

Actually I have a couple ideas for UK legal tactical folders.
