My latest DDR acquisition - EDC w/ mastodon overlays.

http://www.darrelralph.com/ddr/straight/dex3.jpg.html - Three of my ArcLites: carbon fiber/D2 ALB Prototype, the production Camillus ArcLite, and a regular size ArcLite in S90V and micarta. Pic is too big to post!

Come Blade Show time DDR will laugh at me trying to fit a Madd Maxx and a 4" EDC into my pockets, already crammed full of other knives

Thanks Brian, good to see that beauty again!

On this one
I don't own it, but got to fondle it a little and this one needs to be in any group for DDR knife pics. Hugh Bartrug, one of Darrel's knifemaking mentors, made the first one and a collector who has since passed away commissioned Darrel to make this one.
Darrel made it as a tribute to Hugh.

OK Dexter, I'll just move the picture of my Prototype 4" EDC and it's little brothers over here.

Gus, that sword is beyond words! My, my, my, that Mr. Ralph does have the knack, doesn't he. The work on the blade can be defined as nothing other than true artistic ability. Fortunate for us the guy likes knives

Thanks for that picture Dex, I have one very similar to that on order except that it is one of the limited forged 52100 blades and I added some nugget work as well. Can't imagine it looking much better than yours though. A beauty for sure. Here is a pic of my only Ralph to date. Unfortunately she is up for sale, being replace with a gussied up Illusion D/A. Anybody need a nice knife?

I have a cf apogee, that was recently gone over by Mr. Ralph. It is one my favorites. can't post pic, but you know what they look like. I carry it always.
I would like to get an EDC. I like the Fighter style, but it seems like the "Dominator" blade is more popular. For those of you who have both or are familiar with both blade styles, do you find one more functional than the other? Ideal length?
You guys who posted pics, they are all beauties. Thanks Jim
PS. Man, Dexter's knife is fantastic, and I have been looking at Blademan's, with a slite drool, for a few days. Thanks again, Jim

How do you guys get Darrel to make a knife for you. I ordered a knife from him last November and he said it would be 60-120 days. I emailed him in March and he said another month. Still nothing while he takes and fills new orders and everyone says what great service he has. Whats the secret to getting the great service?

Bob
At the time I took your order I was re-vamping my shop and scheduling system.
This closed my shop for two months.
Then to add insult to injury my mother has cancer . We found out around january of this year. Being the only child living in the state that I am in, The obligation fell upon me to help. This situation has really taken a toll
on the time I have to build knives.
The scheduling of her treatments is under control at this time. Treatments are much easier than getting her to the doctors and clinics that is required in the beginning stages of diagnosis.

I am catching up on orders as I type.

The other thing I did was to start making my knives in batchs.

It was kaos making one apogee, then switching and making an edc ect.

So now I make all of the orders at one time for one style knife.

So that has set your order back until I make apogees again.

The folks who are getting knives now were in line before you on the style knife I am making right now.
The new system is working much better . It will however put some knives behind in the beginning of the cycle.

Hope this helps.

Darrel,
You are right behind Jerry Fisk as a national treasure in knifemakeing. Take your time. We all understand that family comes first. We do not have a family to support our jobs, we have jobs to support our family.
The pieces you make will last for generations. If any delay occurs, it is a small price to pay for your excellence.
Your Mother and your family will continue to be in our thoughts and our prayers.
David

Darrel - thanks for the update on your mother, glad to hear things are under control. My family and I will continue to pray for you and your family.
