Ram Horn / Sheep Horn

Several years back, I was given or bargained for some big horn mountain sheep horns. In order to utilize some of the horn it meant I had to remove the outside surface. These horns would have black and a light oranage colour as well as white. What was more interesting was that if the sheep horn was relatively smooth it would absorb the heat from your hand. My, what a comfortable working knife this made ! Frank.

"How do you flatten horn?"
With heat. Keep it under 240 degrees. Boiling will work. I use clamps and a toaster oven.

I do apologize, but unfortunately, I will not be able to offer these, or any additional sheep horns to members here at Blade forums.

Circumstances have changed. If anyone wishes a further explanation, please contact me via PM or Email and I will be glad to explain. I will be checking and answering PM's only, until my BF Membership expires.

I did find another source for sheep horn by searching for "sheep horn" on a popular, well known auction site. The prices are higher than I would have asked per horn, but it is a source for those who wish to use sheep horn in their knife handles.

I will not be responding to this thread in the future. Please PM me, or Email me if you have questions, but again, the horn I have is not for sale.

Best,
Tim

I don't know what is happening, but I wish you all the best with it.
Personally I appreciate the fact that you intended to share your source of sheep horn for friendly prices.
As a wise lady once told me: 'it's nice to be nice'
Thnx and all the best
