Rambles, curiosity, and opinions wanted :)

Hmm, you're right.

Maybe it's simply just a slightly smaller "regular jack" than GEC's new #15? Which, if I recall correctly, Charlie intentionally made a little slimmer than a typical barlow or jack of that length.

It's not the first time I've tripped on a teardrop.

Oh, and now that Will mentioned it, I will add to the conversation even the Queen #2 jack. Just to keep the conversation straight, as I always do :D

I have a White Stagbone in D2
A much smaller Jack at 3 1/4" and narrow
Same size and thickness as the #26 Stockman

The main blade is thin and can be very sharp
The pen is thick for the size of the blade, same thickness as the main blade but is not thinned out by swedges
So it is not a thin scapel type pen

The spey and sheepsfoot on the stockman are much thinner and fit better that size of knife

Now add the Queen Dogleg Jack @ 3 1/2"
Same size as the mini trapper

A nice long sized main blade with half stops
And the pen is the right size for the main blade and with a half stop
Becomes scalpel like
Solid worker

I have in Forest Edge Winterbottom (brown delrin) and in Maple (still availible)

Right you are, Will, I have the whole collection of the ones from '08 and '09 with both nicks on the mark side.

From left to right: Hemlock Green, Lemon Zest, Burnt Arrowhead, Cocobolo, Mexican Bocote, and Blue Denim Acrylic

Thanks for showing these Jeff. That Lemon Zest is a new one on me, must be an ultra short-run, nice looking stuff.

I too like that 'corset' shield to be found on some Tidioutes. A Burnt Orange E-Open 25 (Sheepfoot) of mine has such a shield.

Since discussion has revolved around Teardrops lately, Christian's example with a punch reminded me of one recent and very good Teardrop: the Queen QCCC version in 2 jigged bones, Ebony and Stag, nickel liners. A very pretty knife indeed and what a slicer.

Regards to all, W
