One of my regular's commissioned this small hunter. 4 1/8" blade of 600-layer ladder-pattern damascus. 8 3/4 OAL. Damascus fittings with silicon bronze fileworked spacer & pins.

The high layer count and resulting fine pattern does not lend itself to the regular finish so I rubbed it down with very fine steel wool. This always produces a 3-D holographic shimmer. It also makes it difficult to photograph.

The sheath I made using deer skin for the lining & insert.

Hey, Terry,

That's another fine looking one. I can imagine how that damascus must shine.

Beautiful knife Terry, and the sheath looks absolutely first rate as well.

I love all your knives, so it seems.

Thanks everybody,

When you can find the right set of ram's horn scales, they are just a delight! Work them slow & cool from behind and provide lots of undercutting and dove tails on the back side to hold the acraglas. I also allow the four piano-wire index pins to go well into the horn at the junction to the guard. This way the two scales won't seperate at that point.

They make a feather-light handle and the outer surfaces just ooze character. When done right, it may be the best natural handle material for a working knife.

Beautiful knife, beautiful sheath. That ramshorn looks fantastic!

Kind regards,

Terry I too can visualize how sweet that pattern is. These pictures cant do it justice. I like the sheath too.

I really like your work and that hunter and sheath is no exception. Very very nice!
