I got my Pacific Salt pretty dirty cutting open some bags of top soil. I was cleaning it in the sink and said "What the Hell?" and ran it through the dishwasher in the rack with the flatware. It came out clean (duh) with no discernible issues. The FRN held up fine through the heating and drying process.

I love my Pacific Salt. Did some saltwater fishing this weekend and it performed as expected. It was used to cut bait, clean fish, and other random tasks while on the boat. All I did to clean it was wash it off after use in the water before we headed in. I have read several places about the edge retention so I figured after all this it would need touching up but I was pleased to see that I could still easily shave hairs off my arm with no resistance. I have carried it on several occasions but never really had the chance to give it a good run. It was used two days in a row and only rinsed off in salt water. No rust or signs of rust. Great job Spyderco!

Awesome. I gotta pick up a Salt one of these days. It would prove to be invaluable with the amount of fishing and kayaking I do.

The h1 steel really doesn't perform that badly. Aiside from the compromise aspect, if a salt was the first quality knife you ever had you would be impressed with its edge retention. Just get the serrated version, they take more abuse anyway.
