Folks,

Can get a Randal Attack Model 14 for about $350. Looks cool from the picture. Can get a Dozier Ranger for $315 + shipping. Which would you get and why?

Both of these are "fighting" knives. Am looking for a carrier, not a collector, though I never expect to get into a knife fight. It is unlikely, but possible, that if I buy one of these, I might have to use the purchased knife to defend myself.

Thanks and happy 4th,

Alan

I own several Doziers but not the Ranger. I've also got a Model 14 witha stainless blade. I love my Doziers but with all due respect to Bob I think I'd go with the Randall. D2 is a great steel but will not take the abuse that the Randall will. I just love the size of the Randall and it is very comfortable in the hand. To be fair, I've never handled a Ranger but the ergonomics on my other Doziers are great. For a precision, wicked sharp working knife that will not be subject to excessive abuse, the Dozier hunters, skinners and personal knives for under $200 are an absolute steal. For a fighter that may be subject to extreme abuse I'd go with the Randall.
