Randall knives--I just don't get it

But I don't want one. That was the point of my original post.

That's great, why not just call the thread "Convince me to buy a Randall", so people can avoid your veiled pretext? So to be clear, you started a thread about knives you don't want, and have no intention of buying, under the guise of "not understanding their appeal". With the hopes of accomplishing what? your opinion now seems to be pretty solid, and was from the start.

And for everyone who doesn't get it. I made the comment about "pride" because an effort has been made here to compare unfairly products that are handmade with American labor to machine crafted, and even possibly automated production. This is completely unfair, and shows a low level of appreciation for the people who remain true craftsmen, as was well explained by Bors (don't drag him into any further misunderstanding on my account). If appreciation of that is not your thing than fine carry on. But please stop acting like I am speaking Portuguese over here. I have complete faith you fully understand the choice to buy a Randall.

And if you don't drool when you look at this, you have no soul:

Tip down only and no hole in the blade?? :foot:

"veiled pretext"? "guise"?

I started this thread for exactly the reason post #1 explained, and nothing more. Five pages in you come to the discussion with a declaration that not buying a Randall is indicative of a "lack of national pride". Really? Hyperbole much?

You're not speaking Portuguese, just disagreeable English. As so often happens when discussing favorite brands, emotions tend to run away and people get their feelings hurt. And so for that reason, I think it's time to shut this one down. Thanks to all who contributed.
