I have been looking to order a Randall Made model 25 and would like to here from those who own and use one. How do they feel in the hand? Would this be a good camp/hunting knife? Stainless or nonstainless? I have never handled a Randall but really like the look and history of them.

Thanks Dean

Any review would be appreciated.

Well Dean, I have a model 25, and it is a good blade for just about everything. Except maybe fileting fish.;)

I think the 5" blade is more useful but a one knife man may opt for the 6" version. I perfer a pouch type sheath and that is another reason I went with the 5" blade. The larger blade has the standard, "A" sheath. I know you can look them over on the Randall webb page to get ideas. Also the stag leather handle is good in the hand.

I like the stainless in Florida but mine is the carbon steel and just needs a bit of oil wiped over the blade every now and then. Also the O1 steel can take a very sharp edge.

The part about a Randall, in my opinion, you get a great knife, in a great sheath, and ordered from the shop, the price is pretty cheap for a custom knife. If you can't wait, you'll end up paying a mark up from e-bayer's and gunshops/gunshows. Shop with some of the authorized dealers, I'm sure you will be happy. Heck a Randall is one of the few knives you know you can always sell for what you paid for it and then some!:D

Good luck, Sam

I love this knife!

I have a 25/6-S and it is awesome....it is ideally suited for field dressing big game and general camp chores in my mind....and I agree, use something smaller to fillet those trout...!:D

The handle BTW feels excellent!

I totally agree with gundy, I had a 25-6 in stainless, and carried it on several deer hunts in Idaho. It is a great field dressing knife and general camp knife, as well as a good survival knife also. I like the "A" sheath more than the pouch type myself. Both are great, though.

I never felt under-knifed when I carried that 25-6. Kind of wish I still had it.

Thanks Guys,

I have about decided on a #25-5" with 01 steel. I'm also looking at the model #26. Someone emailed me a good offer on a stainless model #25 but I like the 01 better. I don't mind the wait because I have small pockets and this will allow me to maybe buy both knives and pay on them. This way I can slip a little out of the budget unoticed.:D

Thanks Dean
