So I just wanted to let everyone know that even though these are mostly collected and not used as much as some knives they can handle anything and even perform better than most of the knives on the market. I have and use many Randall's but the model 3 is my most used so gonna focus on that model. It's O-1 Swedish tool steel with 5" blade and leather handle. It is an amazing hunting knife. I've chopped through pelvic bones with no damage whatsoever and cleaned 2 bucks and a few does. It has performed awesome. Not one complaint. The sheath is fantastic also. There leather work is top notch. It also is great at camp chores like feather sticks and whittling. All in all. 10 out of 10. Here are some pics over the last few hunting seasons.

I use sno-seal to protect the leather handle and it does great. The more use it gets the more character it gets. I like that.

Great collection of Randall's you've got there. The only thing I don't care for is that top swedge on their blades being sharp or ground so thin for a hunting type knife. I'd love to have one of the trapper models with the drop point blade. Congrats on your Randalls the only one's I've owned so far have been a standard 14 and a 14 with the 18 blade and saw notches in the blade. Unfortunately I sold them 20 years ago when my kids were little and raising a family was more important. I keep thinking about getting another 14 one day though.
Thanks for the nice pics of your knives and game you've taken.

Good looking Randalls for sure. Do they make any hunting models with out the choil? Thanks,

Were your Randall's sharp enough to use when they first arrived ?
When you sharpen do you use mousepad under sandpaper ?
Once you have a sharp edge can you fully field dress a whitetail, including amputating all 4 lower legs (at knee joint) and still have a sharp edge at the end ?
thanks, kj

I have used a Randall #5 camp & trail for a few decades, it can dress two deer and still be sharp. I once chipped the cutting edge trying to hack off a rear quarter. Randall fixed it just fine. My Randalls have always been sharp enough to start working straight out of the box. I started with a Randall #1 40 years ago, and it is the only model I currently own. I sharpen with a hard Arkansas, and not very often. I also use sno-seal on the handle and sheath, it prevents mold and stains and keeps the stitching strong and leather handle from drying and causing a loose pommel.
