Hello all ,
Just acquired this Randall and have a question as to what version is it .
Has a brass spine , scalloped brass collar and butt cap , brass hilt and ivory handle .
It looks like the smithsonian bowie
The blade is 14" long which is longer than any knife i can find that they offer .
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks , Steve

Not sure how to post pictures
Any help ?
Thanks , Steve

Hit the preview button. It's at the upper right. Looks like a piece of paper with a magnifying glass. If the picture shows.

Post reply.

The Ray Thorp bowie is almost 14".....

Why?

Fantasy piece. The hilt and pummel appear to be cast pot metal. Or cast brass. No idea what's up with the blade.

It's not a Randall

Grasshopper ,
What makes you say it's not a Randall ?

Where's the sales receipt? Have you verified the knife with the guys who made it?

People try to play a game with the ultra high dollar knives.

Where'd you get this thing again? Where'd you buy it?

Just a thought in case you hadn't considered it....
Don't let anybody tell you this is something it isn't. Don't do anything with it, respond to enquiries trying to buy it etc until you find out exactly what it is. Contact Randall Knives, I'd bet that they would have a record of a knife like this.

I'm not calling it either way, but there are tons of Randall clones flooding the market from Pakistan.

From what I can see the forge mark looks pretty much like the one on my Randalls.

In any case, the Randall experts here are to be found in this sub-subforum:

Def interested to know if this is a randall, I've seen one of these a few years ago and it looks just like it. Even the brass back looks correct.

It might just be the photos, but the clip looks wrong for it to be a Raymond Thorpe Bowie. Might be a Smithsonian Bowie. Or the blade shape might have changed slightly over the years. Either way, it looks like a real Randall to me.
