Randall

This the same Leroy Thompson that writes articles for gun magazines?
Seems likely so...

His knife related books on the Commando
Dagger and Survival/Fighting Knives and Combat Knives are pretty classic.
His latest is a light read on the fairbarn-sykes commando dagger.
I guess the signed letter by the leroy thompson would be highly cherished by folks who are die hard fans of this highly prolific veteran writer.

Well the OP is saying it's his Dad's knife. Dad was a Marine. Dad is dead.

Near as I can tell Leroy Thompson the author was in the Air Force & is still alive.

So it's either a different Leroy Thompson, or the OP is wrong.

Or the OP's dad bought the knife from AKC because he was a collector, like the OP said...

Why? The OPs father passed away after purchasing a knife ostensibly owned by Thompson. Whats the problem? He never said Thompson was his father.

No.

Ok so the father was a collector and bought a Randall that had belonged to the writer Leroy Thompson? Think I'm on track now.
