Turns out it was staph infection, that damn thing hurt! I still have the scar.

A year and a half ago my wife got flesh-eating bacteria on her left cheek. Within 24 hours they had to operate and took her eye so the infection wouldn't follow the optic nerve into her brain and kill her. They literally had to peel up her forehead and cheek and scrape out the bad stuff, then she was on IV antibiotics for a month. Turns out the disease is a form of Staph A, and the worst part is they have NO clue how she got it.
