Hi I have a random task 1510 knife purchased new in 1998. been boxes and stored since. I recentially got it out to sell. and while listing it with all the details it had a 1520 blase on it. ok I listed all of this. I got messages asking me questions about this. apparently the 1520 is a richochet blade on the 1510 random task handle and scales body? is this a factory error or were there more knifes made this way? is it a rare find, or? any help is appreciated. Note that the only difference between the 2 is the blade shape. The handle, liners, and clip are exactly the same. What you have there is the wrong box.

I'm not sure about the differences in the handle, but the 1520 is the Ricochet. Perhaps Dave (kershawguy) will stop by...I'll bet he has the scoop on this one!

Nevermind...spiral got here first!

so if i have the 1510st serrated blade not a tonto point. same blade as ricochet knife only serrated. would this not be a random task either?? it says 1510st on box also it was a serrated blade as the richocet pictured above, but was a random task?? or i thought?? both were bought same time dame sporting goods store in 1998?? Now i dont know what to think.

I looked up your auction and what you have there is a Ricochet... if the box says Random Task.... it's in the wrong box. If you have a serrated version of the same knife and and the box says random Task, it's in the wrong box as well.

I am going to be presumptuous here, take it or leave it, the guy at the sporting goods store put them in the wrong boxes. Your blades are plain 'ole run of the mill Ricochets. Sorry.

Edit to add... IMO a knife in the wrong box is worth less than a knife in the correct box. The only Kershaw mistake that I can think of in recent memory that adds value to a knife would be the Speed Spec Bumps (with 13c26 steel) that were marked on the blades S30V... but even then the difference in value is minimal. A wrong box fiasco coming out of the factory would not be something that a collector would seek out b/c it would be very simple to fake or even do on accident while shuffeling your knives around in your collection.

I agree about the box mix up at the sporting goods store, although I wouldn't say run of the mill, the 1520's although not as desirable as the 1510's are actually harder to come by and probably fewer were made they used exactly the same materials and they are fine knives. Dustin you need to take a time out in your room for saying " run of the mill" , nothing with the words Kershaw on it is run of the mill, you should be ashamed of you self !!
