During batoning I have noticed that, at least for me, a false edge would not be the best of options. It is hard on the baton used and may cause it to crack propeling fragments even to the user's eyes:eek:. Here is the beauty of this ingenious blade tip formation introduced by Jerry Busse called the "Penetrator Tip": this is actually a relief of the tip only, meaning it leaves all the spine of the knife intact;). One can literally go through a diamond steel plate easily with a tip like this:cool:!

One thing I can say is give it a try. I believe you will love it!

Kind regards.

yes - that's what I meant by false edge - a short one, like I do on my K-TUSK, but even shorter.

I'll try it on one of my beefy 1/4" thick nessmuks next time I make one. Should be cool. I wonder if mymindisamob would be interested...???
(you out there listening?)
:D

I think mymindisamob is going to love it. I would also be very interesting to read to any comments about it.
