We live to the right of the lake. The Boulder fire and evac zones are encroaching. Red is evac, yellow is on hot standby. We can smell smoke in the garage.

We are actually packed, ready to roll out.

It has been a surreal thought process tonight. I literally have a duffle bag and my go bag of just a couple important things. The rest of it... Meh. I'm not bothered. My wife and daughter have a similar load out. My dog and a few thing and we are set. What a strange mental exercise.

Thanks. I can't get my head around 600+ structures (homes, shopping centers, hotels...) In just a couple hours. Several hundred more likely to go. They have already declared it the most expensive fire in state history. It started 5 hours ago!

I have been on many forest fires, used to work on a wildland fire crew in Montana. Seeing it get into structures in populated areas is so strange. I have no frame of reference for this.
