So, ifa you no speaka da langwidge, shaddupa you face. Kapeesh?
I wish I could speak Italian. My Spanish is quite good.
My paternal grandmother lived on Brighton Beach Blvd, a couple blocks from Coney Island Avenue. As a kid, I'd do a lot of exploring in that area, getting myself lost wandering the ins and outs of the neighborhood.See, that's out there for me. I think we looked at a few places over the ridge in Forest Hills but that's really all I know. Mostly it's Bay Ridge to Coney Island for me now.
The funny thing is that "Sicilian" is different from Italian...though the Sicilian kids learn "Italian" so that everyone sort of speaks the same language.I grew up across the street from a Sicilian family. They owned an Italian restaurant. The food benefits were incredible - they were always bringing over big bags of homemade pasta (tortellini, ravioli, fettuccini…) Puerto Rican family moved into the parish and the two families became fast friends.
I was good friends with one of the daughters in the Puerto Rican family and attended a lot of their get togethers with my Sicilian neighbors.
What was interesting was when they would talk to each other - the Puerto Ricans would speak in Spanish and the Sicilians would speak in Italian and if they had trouble with a word the other didn’t understand they would throw out the English word, which both spoke/understood.
I asked Soli if she could understand Italian, she said yes, for the most part because the vocabularies were very similar. She said the toughest part was getting used to their accent.
I started playing this week. Thanks for the heads up that there is a doubled letter. So far I am also averaging 4 tries.Anyone else here playing "Wordle" online?
It's free; no registration required. Started playing it about a week ago. It's a variation on "Hangman." You have to "guess" the word in 6 tries or less. Haven't missed one yet. I've been averaging 4 tries for each word; low of 3 and high of 5. Haven't had to resort to the 6th try yet.
My 1st 2 tries are devoted to using 2 words that contain all of the vowels and some commonly used consonants. So, unless the mystery word is one of the words used in the 1st 2 tries, I can never guess word in less than 3 tries.
There is only 1 new word puzzle a day -- the same word for everyone -- and you can "share" your results w/others w/o giving away the word like this one today:
Wordle 215 4/6
The WHITE boxes means that none of the letters used is in the word. GREEN boxes mean that the letter is in the word and is in the correct position. And the YELLOW box means that the letter is in the word but not in the correct position.
Sometimes, like today, a letter can be used more than once, which makes guessing the word a bit more difficult.
BTW, there is a website that gives away the answers to each puzzle which would only be necessary to refer to unless you are completely stumped.
I sometimes reach out and chat with the NinJo outside the sub but often just about dogs, puppies and as such. I also let her know, IMHO, who the a$$hats are so you best behave yourself kiddo! You asked the right question, just the wrong person. That guy doesn’t know what goes on around that place, you need to ask the boss lady.
That was a very cryptic answer. Or should I say crypto? I dunno, the modern vernacular escapes me!I would not make antique micarta scales for a basic series knife, but I would for the HDFK, and they are compatible...
Touché GusMeisterThat’s exactly what I was thinking!![]()
