I worry about Bob. I think one of his islands could be affected by this. The one with the wildlife preserve. It has an indigenous species of deer that evolved without human hunting pressure. They're so docile you can walk right up them. Beautiful creatures, just amazing, they'll let you walk right up and pet them. If that gets screwed up where am I going to knife hunt?

It's the only way I am still able to keep the schkleekla (tiny dancer deer) population under controll. They think your dagger is magic and don't fear your approach, as do most of the rest of us.

THE SMOKE HAS FINALLY HIT!!
Well, the Central Cal Coast is finally getting hit by the REAL smoke from the fires just one county north of here. The top image is a pic is just snapped from my balcony, which would have been blue sky if not for the smoke - the second one, of the sun, from an area a bit south - and the orange color is true. When I awoke an hour ago, the eastern skies were bright orange, the effect one of sun peering through smoke:

That’s not too bad Bob. Visibility is still good. I hope that is the worst you see.
At this point I’d say you’re doing pretty well still.
This year was the worst for me personally. We ended up spending a few thousand dollars on HEPA filters and more AC units as at some points the smoke had visibly down to less than 1km at ground level. Everything smelled like a camp fire and the kids, baby in particular were suffering from respiratory distress, wife was losing her voice etc.
It was a bad summer up here!!
