I really like how he was going to set everything right by explaining to us exactly what IP stands for. Oooops.

Also, it’s something when the 17 year old who wants to be considered a man does so by challenging the actual men to respond in the way he wants or else their manhood is in question. That’s deep.

Edit to add: Kid, you have been welcomed here. The rocky start you began with was your own doing. You came in quite hot, out of no where, without knowing the lay of the land. You received some ribbing because of it. Yet, instead of getting on board with the program you doubled down and responded with more of the same which often came across as arrogance and indigence. That is aside from the multiple profile nonsense.

If you somehow manage to become un-banned, I would suggest read more, post less and ask questions in a manner that comes across as you wanting the answer and not from position that you already have it. Just a suggestion, please, take it or leave it.

Let me explain what IP is. IP stands for Internet Protocall. That means if more than one device registered on the same service then it will have the same IP. It is like two people sending a letter from the same house, but the recipient doesnt know one of them so he assumes that only one person is sending them. Such is my case with my cousin. I was using my computer and he was using his. I asked him not to post anything but he wanted to troll me I guess so he started posting stuff. Way too much stuff I might add. He and I reached an agreement that involves him not making another account since he has no wish to pursue the business of bladesmithing like i do. That problem is now in the open and with a solution: there was never a duplicate account and there never will be.

Blues, I did make another account after you banned me, two more actually and you have banned them. I did this to prove the truth of my statement. I went to two OTHER devices besides my cousins or my computer to create an account. Used differemt emails and they were still banned. Because my IP was banned, it doesnt matter how many devices i use they still are banned. Now thanks to your hard work I am using a ghost IP as i like to call it to tell you that you made a mistake. I understand that what you do for the forum is of vast importance and i say thank you. no doubt your police instincts kicked in when my cousin started going over the edge. However you had left out one important step in the law enforcemet arrest procedure: interrogation.

I am back on this thread to ask if i can have my account back now that you know the facts. I apologize if i made anyone feel like i was acting better than them. All i was trying to do was have a friendly conversation and or joke around with yall. However I am not a child, as some on this thread said. I stopped being a child once i started making my own decisions, forging my future (literally) and starting my own business. So if you still consider me a 17 y/o snot nosed kid, your words not mine, then ban me again. Or if we all want to be men about it like i do, then, at that piont it will be your decision.

I will be out of contact for the next few hours so if you feel like banning me at least wait until tonight so i can answer and maybe change your mind. I was hoping you would let me stay because i am still learning how to make knives and would be glad to be able to ask questions if I need to. Btw if my cousin shows up again I will report him.

I was going to quote that post for posterity because I had a strong hunch that it'd get deleted. I really don't have a dog in this fight and as a matter of fact, I loathe dog fights because I love dogs but that's a story for another day. Whether he stayed or not, didn't matter to me but others with more egregious initial bad behavior managed to iron things out with Nathan.

There is an email way to get in touch with Nathan if you know where to look. Make your case directly to Nathan instead of airing out grievances here in front of the CPK public. If you do get back by the grace of whoever, read Grenock's post # 27,141 religiously and adhere to it. It is still hard to convince me that you are for real as I would still bet on you being a troll but if you are for real and at a tender young age trying to find your footing in this world, then good luck to you and your future endeavors.
 
I'm considering giving the kid another chance and placing him on double secret probation. I've sent him a PM letting him know that he'll have one chance and one chance only if he is allowed back in. (Conditional upon reading more, posting less, and not insulting other members by presuming to know more than they do about their chosen fields and professions.)

Those of you who are in favor, please post or give a like. If you are not, speak up here or via PM.

Not Nathan's choice to make in this case. It has nothing to do with the sub-forum... It is based upon forum rules and guidelines. Please stay out of it.
 
Considering that there are members elsewhere (in other parts of the forum at large) who have been allowed to stick around for far more divisive and egregious behavior (in my opinion), I am all for letting RJ have another go - just so long as he heeds the excellent advice that he's been given up to this point.

I will defer to Nathan and crew first though (and Blues, of course) - it's their house.

I was young and impetuous once upon a time. I'll vote for a 2nd chance.

Sometimes, the young 'uns feel a need to come in a little hot, trying to 'prove they can hold their own'. Seems to be a young, mentality thing.

With maturity, most folks tend to realize that coming in hot, is more likely to set off everyone's, "Who the #### Is THIS guy?".

Been there, done that when I was younger, watching the horseplay between older guys, thinking that to 'fit in', I should jump right in.

If he makes use of the rare opportunity to make a 2nd impression, great. If not, can always give him the boot again.

Makes me think of this scene 😅

I'm new here, compared to most. Not my first rodeo, by any means, however, and I know it's easy to step into an established community and shoot yourself in the foot. When that happens, a little humility goes a long way in setting things right. I have seen no humility, only arrogance and aggressive responses from the subject in question, and if he isn't allowed back, it's okay by me, since I saw very little to nothing of value in his posts. I think his chances of success in this community are limited; along the way, some training I received pointed out that there are three types of people: those that learn by their mistakes, those that learn by other's mistakes, and those that don't learn. My money is on the latter category for this subject.

I hope I don't end up getting flamed or banned from this post, I'm just taking up Blues Blues on his offer to voice an opinion, and this is mine. I would expect others to have differing opinions, and I'm good with that.
 
I gave Nathan a call to tell him I was inclined to let him back in and he concurred. (I was once a 17 year old know-it-all too.)

Anyway, he gets one chance to make it work. The rest is on him...(and forum guidelines).

Must be getting soft in my old age.

The ban has been lifted on the RJ account. The others are banned.
 
Only since Blues asked. I think he came in a little hot yes, but a large majority of us have done similar at some point in our youth ( and some not so much in just our youth). The only way a young man is going to learn is if he's taught. I trust Nathan and Blues judgement as to allow him a second chance ... and I trust the rope will be tethered until he learns respect is something earned not taken. The multiple accounts is totally in Blues hands and hopefully a lessoned learned.
