Thanks.

it's odd thouh going from a shop where I know exactly what's going on to a shop where I know no one. Nothing new under the sun I guess.

I'll be on unfamiliar equipment today and will be for the foreseeable future I'm guessing.
i dont see it being ''new'' for long and I'm getting familiar with my surroundings.

It's weird, anytime I'm getting familiar with a new machine is when I'm most likely to miss something or make a mistake. It can work exactly the same as every other machine but the menus are in a different place or buttons look a little different and I end up screwing up. I think it's because the subsystems that are actually driving most of my movements aren't connected to the part of my brain that actually understands how things work.

You be careful today. Stay focused.

file flexing (being the CPK sub, someone will come along that bought all the old Nicholson US tooling lmao)

Yeah they're probably not any good anymore. If you'll send them to me I'll discard them for you
My grandpa was very important to me. But I'd be happy for you to have 'em after I depart this mortal coil.

I also have his old mandolin and his pocket watch, which was originally my great grandfather's from the late 1880's to 1890. (Those will stay in the family.)

Speaking of files...in our high school metal shop class, old Mr. Shields would be exasperated with us from time to time and give us a test. (Which would leave him more exasperated after he saw the answers on the test. For which he failed a bunch of us.)

Define:

C-Clamp: A clamp that holds the ocean together.

Tang: An orange drink the astronauts take into space.

Rivet: A sound made by a frog.

Ball-Peen: A hernia

File: Dossier, Collection of documents

etc.

He probably thought there was a special place in hell for us.

My mother still says the galvanized dust pan I made for her back then was the best she ever had. Imagine what I could have accomplished in prison. 🤣
