Random Thought Thread

There's just such something about "delta". When I first got into the UPS industry almost 20 years ago, APC had recently bought a company that invented Delta Conversion technology. At the time, traditional "double conversion" UPS's were like 90-92% efficient, while Delta Conversion was 97%. As electric rates rose, that efficiency became a great selling point, especially when talking about megawatts of power. Power conversion technology has improved since then, such that double conversion is now up to 96%, so Delta Conversion has fallen to the wayside, but it drove the industry to improve.

So, Delta Force, Delta Burke, Delta Conversion, Delta 3V, Delta MagnaCut...what's next?

So many new faces around here that if some of the old-timers of yesteryears ever come back into the game, would probably not recognize the place anymore but kudos to Nathan / Jo and the CPK-Crew (lurve ya Mark!) for truly marshaling this small business to become a major factor and a force to be reckoned with in the knife industry and Blade Sports.

I don't know my arse from my elbow when it comes to nerd talk like "edge stability" but I can comment that CPK has the edge well over all its so-called competition (Nathan is too modest to concur) and CPK is supremely stable. This is my definition of edge stability!

This musta been asked before, but I can't find it: why "Delta"? Because it's a change or different from some standard? Was it the fourth try? Can someone fill me in?

This has been on my mind though, and I wonder what the future of CPK holds. Interest in the product is bound to continue expanding. Seems like upsizing substantially would bring changes and compromises. Not upsizing substantially might mean giving up the value factor, or living with an impossible demand for limited resources, with all that brings. Or maybe I'm delusional and the demand for CPK's can be satiated while maintaining the current company form and style?

Delta means change. It is a reference to an engineering change denoted with a delta symbol. I wanted something to differentiate the work coming from our shop after the development of the new protocol from the work that proceeded it. It is not a reference to high speed low drag Delta Force operators, it is literally just revision control.


... Then Delta covid came. Now people can say "holy shit that knife is sick". Delta covid is like regular covid, just stronger.

Haven't been on here much since Saturday

Wife got influenza a and has been down and out so been trying to help her feel better

..... so I we went to urgent care with her , I picked up medicine... and reserve beer....

She's doing better ....... and I'm making sure these beers are getting all the attention they need hahaha

Hope she's on the mend soon. Nasty virus circulating around Hammer-ville as well. I had it, and then as soon as I got better, the wife got it. It's definitely an ass-kicker.
