Random Thought Thread

…or a Yugo , or Prius, or Pinto. Actually, I used to live across the the street from a chiropractor that had a Pinto with a 350 ci V8 in it. He raced it. Fuggin’ weird, huh ? Especially if it would’ve had a giant PUD smudged body n paint job on the side….random thought.

Better than Buffalo a couple weekends ago. I would love to see that much snow in a 48 hr period but holy chit that's a lot of snow to dig out from.

It’s not that bad, a couple day shit show for some and then the real WNY end of year winter weather shows back up, 40’s-50’s and rain and everything melts lol. Then we get our cold winter in Jan-March.

When I was in Oswego (off the east side of lake Ontario) for a couple years I saw 7’ over the course of a weekend once. That was pretty insane with all the snow from the roads being shoved into the yards, we were sledding off the 1st story roofs of our friend’s houses lol. Ahhhhh college life when weather shuts school down…

Funny random thought.... at work... I'm terrible at brown nosing...I often walk away from managerial conversations... don't compliment upper management on things they say I don't give a sh!t about.... and often say comments that are not what they want to here

Rare these days but it's worked out for me... focus on what you enjoy doing f everything else ... focus on what you can be the best at past others who won't put in the effort ... that carries more weight than sucking at your job and kissing ass

(Adult beverages kicking in lol)

No adult beverages here and I wish more people felt like you do. People suck up when they think it will serve them somehow, but that is not loyalty. Praise, admiration and respect are earned and should be given when due. True craftsmen can let their performance and outcomes do the talking. I hope your day goes well tomorrow!

Unfortunately, the bolded part isn't always true.

IME, I've come to assume that anyone who's constantly sucking up/brown nosing/kissing ass = sucks at actually doing their job. Likewise with folks who love constantly tooting their own horn.

My observation is that they're fully aware that based solely on their performance/ merits, they know that they're bottom of the barrel, so their only recourse is either constantly kissing ass, or trying to tell everyone how awesome they are at their job.

The folks who really ARE amazing at their jobs, don't need to constantly tell everyone how awesome they are (or kiss ass to get anywhere/keep their jobs). They know that their results speak for themselves, and they just focus on what they do.

The problem is that the ass kissers of the world aren't the only lazy ones. There are a lot of higher ups who are too lazy to actually pay any attention to actual results/performance, and when you couple that with insecure personalities who love having their egos stroked, you get to see advancement where EVERYONE else goes, "W...T...F... THAT useless POS got a promotion? Sheesh".

I have zero respect for folks who succumb to ass kissing, because it tells me that a) they're lazy and unobservant, and b) they care more about having their fragile egos stroked than anything else.

I also have a tendency to immediately assume that anyone trying to kiss my ass, will have subpar performance. In my lifetime, there have only been 2 people who've broken that mold, and I told them, "Look, the constant compliments aren't necessary. You're really good at your job. As long as you keep your focus on that, you'll do great".

End rant.
