You can fix messed up teeth. This could be crowned or capped or verniered or something. But when you cut your tongue in half. Or cut off body parts. That's permanent.

There was some idiot in the EU who convinced a plastic surgeon to remove his nose and upper(?) lip. Has difficulty eating, drinking and speaking now, and regrets it. Moron.

Another one I read about was folks having their sclera (whites of the eyes) tattooed, some of whom are now blind.
